We need strict single law for every community and religion in our country like in other countries. They do not allow citizens to act as per their own laws but law of the land. That makes every one equal. And if any religion allows more than one marriage, same religion says to cut hands of a thief or remove his genetile if found guilty of rape. I like their laws for such offenders.

According to thecandidate's supporter , he quoted that a particular part of Sharia like chopping of a third of a hand for committing theft is good. And for this all hue and cry ? I personally feel that the candidate is not at fault.

The criminal and commercial transactions and other matters like moving on road involve interaction between citizens irrespective of religion and caste. Hence there is uniform law on such matters. But succession of property and marriage/ divorce are not common citizen issues and hence there is no common or uniform law for these. India is a multi religious and multi lingual country. You cannot have uniform law on marital and succession. Incidentally, even among Hindus, the personal law is not uniform. In Assam and Bengal, they follow Dayabhag whereas in other parts Mitakshara. Also there are many local customs of communities that law recognizes. There is patriarchal system in most regions but the tribal in some areas follow Matrilineal system. No doubt, we cannot have uniformity for law depending on community rituals and procedure relating to marriage and succession.
