This is very apt reasoning. You can not move an inch without getting away from current position. Many things, persons and places get irrelevant when you advance. Krishna had to leave his village and Gopis including Radha and Rama had to leave Ayodhya.

Sometimes in order to rise higher, you have to rid yourself free of the dead weight that is weighing you down. Did you know that hot air balloons have a maximum weight amount that they can safely carry? This is just a small example of attempting to fly with too much weight in your cab.
