I think Mother India will get most no. of votes for the best film with Nargis the best actress, no doubt.
For the past Jupiter year (term of 12 years), of course, Lagaan is the best. It will get most votes for the best film of new Millenium

It is interesting to mark the great technological development in cinema. To begin with, movies were silent. An actor could express only by gestures. Also movies were black and white. Later movies got sound but yet there was no play back singing. The actors had to sing themselves. Transition from silent to speaking, black and white to color, play back songs and other progress in cinematography is indeed remarkable. There is great history of actors, singers, camera personnel and others in this century.

When we talk about 100 years of Indian cinema, every keralite will talk about Chemmen and Manichitra thaazhu for sure, which are really land mark films of Malayalam

I recently went through a documentary which displayed step by step, decades by decades changes in Indian cinema. that was great experience to watch it.
