I have chanced upon this quote on teachers of William Arthur Ward:"The mediocre teacher tells.The good teacher explains.The superior teacher demonstrates.The great teacher inspires."
Sadly we have very few great teachers today!! What do you say?

Yes, you are right Mr.chinmoy. we have very few great teachers.Today.In my view mother is the first best teacher for every child.

The quote is superb. Undoubtedly, every one is to learn himself. Mere telling or explaining will not help. It is job of a teacher to inspire students for further enhancing knowledge through own efforts.

Gem of a quote Chinmoy. I remember a story one of my friends told me one day.
Once an automobile engineer,an electrical engineer and a teacher who were childhood friends met after a long time.They gossipped for long hours.Both the engineers boasted of their jobs but the teacher kept quiet.Automobile engineers went on explaining how they made newer vehicles everyday and the electrical engineer explained how they manufactured transformers,motors,generators etc.When both of them realised teachers silence they said,"what about you Mr. teacher?".And they laughed to their hearts content.
The teacher said calmly but smiling," We only manufacture human beings in our factories" And it calmed the engineers too.
