Security company Lookout Mobile Security has discovered what it calls one of the most sophisticated smartphone Trojan.

Dubbed Geinimi, the Android Trojan, appeared in China and is capable of taking a significant amount of personal data and sending it to remote servers, claims the company. Once the malware is installed on a user's smartphone, it has the potential to receive commands from a remote server that allow the owner of that server to control the phone.

According to Lookout, Geinimi displays botnet-like qualities and is the most powerful wireless malware it has seen. So far, infected programmes have only been seen on various Chinese app stores.
