The basic difference is the political system and character of the people. As such India cannot match China because because our political system allows a divisive approach and a lot of time is spent in infructuous things. Indians are also not as hard working as Chinese.
If US reduces its purchases from China then the Chinese economy will go down.

I second your opinion. Chinese are hardworking & work together as One Nation unlike our Country where there is caste, religion, region, state & what not to divide & sit down in opposing each other & dispute over each matter rather than working together. If Modi is not re elected, it looks like even the Inflow of foreign currency will reduce & slow down progress.

Now that tarrifs for Imports from China has increased from today, it may happen, but even Chinese have paid back in the same coin by increasing tarrifs for goods imported from US. China looks strong & it is Opposing U.S itself by paying back in the same coin.
China seems relentless & merciless in its approach. Recently it gave sensitive weapon to Pakistan which is also not a good sign.
Being a strong economy doesn't mean it can take any decision & give any weapon to another nation to plot India indirectly.

World domination is all about military strength and a strong economy. China has both and now is heading to be the biggest economy in the world. Sadly India was number 1 in Asia in 1947 by Pandit Nehru frittered it away. he never realized as Mao said, " power comes out of the barrel of a gun". Now we are trying to catch up but its next to impossible as the leadership and system in India with caste divisions are not helping out. America will go into decline as that is the law of nature
