I request members to please avoid digging out irrelevant discussions which haven't been discussed for years. That only sends the current threads on inner pages and considered as spam. Thank You.

I second your opinion but yes, it will be a tiresome job for the moderators. The members are adults so we all must act sensibly. .
I feel that we should not delete the any thread as some important discussions might get deleted. Though it might be demanding and tiresome for moderators, any thread that turns irrelevant should be locked. But there are some threads which are evergreen and call for discussions every now and then.
It is the call of the users to not do things for just point bragging. Anyway the monetary benefit is not so much that one should just go unethical ways of grabbing points. Let us maintain the value of the site.
We are all adults and do not need policing all the time. Let us indulge in positive contributions.

At the moment it is not possible. What you can do instead is to create more new threads on relevant and appropriately interesting topics to encourage participation. This will put the deleted threads to the back and not show on first page.
