I have a suggestion. May be the respective moderators should lock every thread once they become irrelevant or after certain time duration. I know its a hard work but may be its the only way to prevent members from spamming

There is a large number of threads (almost 20-25000) in this forum site that will need to be locked in that case. I don't think we need to lock them all if members follow the unwritten rule of not posting on irrelevant threads. Thank You once again!

I second your opinion but yes, it will be a tiresome job for the moderators. The members are adults so we all must act sensibly.   .  

@suni51 Just a query, won't it be good if all the locked threads get removed from the first page? Actually, the page looks quite messy with so many locked threads.

Yes that is possible but that would remove some of the important discussions from the system forever. I suggest you to answer on threads beneath locked threads so the locked threads disappear from the 1st page.

I feel that we should not delete the any thread as some important discussions might get deleted. Though it might be demanding and tiresome for moderators, any thread that turns irrelevant should be locked. But there are some threads which are evergreen and call for discussions every now and then.

It is the call of the users to not do things for just point bragging. Anyway the monetary benefit is not so much that one should just go unethical ways of grabbing points. Let us maintain the value of the site. 

We are all adults and do not need policing all the time. Let us indulge in positive contributions.

Do it however, use your better judgement. Just for the sake of banishing locked threads at the back, do not post in threads which have no relevance now.

Is it not possible to delete the forums which show Deleted in the screen itself where it is deleted by moderators, I think that will facilitate more forum participation as active threads will form part of the first page.

At the moment it is not possible. What you can do instead is to create more new threads on relevant and appropriately interesting topics to encourage participation. This will put the deleted threads to the back and not show on first page.
