It Is India's Glorious Hundred!
So Indian cricket has achieved another glorious milestone with the superlative innings victory over Sri Lanka at Kanpur. It is India's hundredth victory in Test cricket and Team India has not only done it but has done it great style. India have walloped Sri Lanka by an innings and 144 runs! The victory has also coincided with it attaining the number one in test rankings. So it's gala time for the cricket lovers all over the country. A truly memorable occasion to be celebrated in a befitting manner. The history of Indian cricket is chequered one. We all owe to the past cricket luminaries, cricket administrators who graced this game and contributed immensely to the popularity of the game and its development.
The historic Kanpur test has drawn the best out of our players who seemed a little bit indifferent and rusty in the first test against Sri Lanka. The second Test match has witnessed the heroics of quite a few. Gautam Gambhir is the emerging superster of Indian cricket. A few years ago when he burst upon the domestic cricket scene and swept all before him many saw a great future for this young man. Today it is his hour of joy. He has been in supreme touch. For the last couple of years he has been going from strength to strength and looks well poised to serve Indian cricket with distinction for a long time to come.
Virender Shewag is quite a character and he is one who never bothers about surviving on a missed chance. By piling up a record day's total of four hundred plus India set the tone of the test match and Shewag's swashbuckling century immensely helped in scoring those record-breaking runs on the first day. Rahul Dravid, India's man for all seasons, batted the way he is famous for. It is successive century which provided the meat of the mammoth India's first innings total. Sreesnath has produced a sterling bowling performance. This young man, who was fretting and fuming and neglecting his enormous talents was even ticked off by the BCCI for wayward conduct, has special reasons to be pleased.
All in all, it has been an inspirational performance from Team India. Hats off to you and keep it up!!
