Shelter of land animals
Animals which live on land are called terrestrial animals. Those which live in jungles live in natural.
The domesticate animals; we have used them in many ways. We use them to go from one place to another, to pull heavy loads, to ride and for sports.
Domestic animals
Domestic animals live in man-made shelters. These shelters protect the animals from heat, cold, rain, and wild animals.
Horses are kept in a stable. Sheep and goats are kept in farms. A pig lives a sty. Cows and buffaloes live in sheds. Dogs and cats are kept as pets at home.
Use of animals or transport
Some animals are used to transport people and goods.
Ponies and yaks
Ponies and yaks are used to carry people and goods in the mountains. Have you been to the Vaishno Devi temple? There you will see children and elderly people riding on ponies to reach the temple located on a hilltop. Yaks are found on the mountains in Ladakh. They are used to carry load.
Horses
These users are police (army), for Tong and in marriages. Games are playing polo and horse race.
Elephants
Elephants are strong animals. In earlier times, kings used to travel on beautifully decorated elephants. They were also used in the battlefield.
Nowadays, elephants are used to pull heavy logs or trunks of fallen trees. They are also used in jungle safaris.
Camels
Carts drawn by camels are used to transport people and goods in deserts. Their spongy hooves help them to move swiftly on the sand. Camels are also used to give joyrides to children.
Bullocks
A bullock cart is one of the oldest modes of transportation. It is drawn by a pair of bullocks. Bullock carts carry people as well as goods. Grains, vegetables and fruits are transported to town markets on bullock carts. Cattle pet mostly in villages.
