Characteristics
Konik is the Polish word for 'little horse'.The Konik resembles the Hucul -the two horses originate from the same area of the world and are both beleived to descend from the Tarpan,which died out in the 19th century.The addition of Arab blood at some point in its history has given the Konik some refinement and made it look more attractive.It is now selectively bred at the stud of Jezewice and at Popielno to maintain its breed characteristics.The Konik is tough and hardy,economical to keep and lives a long time,so it is widely used locally in agriculture,particulary in market gardening.it is now also very popular as a children's pony because of its docile temperament.Its high-set shoulder give it rather a poor action, but do make it good in harness.

Small but wel-proportioned,with attractive head on muscular neck,narrow back and strong quarters.
Characteristics:
A miniature horse,the Caspian may be the most ancient breed in the word,dating back to 3000B.C.It was thought to be extinct but was rediscovered in Iran in 1965,when a small herd was found on the shores of Caspian Sea.Some of these horses were taken to form the basis of the breed around the world,which has been carefully managed to maintain its original characteristics.the caspian looks like a miniature version of an Arab horse,with large eyes ,a prominent jaw line and a high-set tail.Despite its tiny size it is very fast-able to keep up with much bigger horses and is also an extremely good jumper.It has a wonderfully easy-going temperament,so it is ideal as a riding pony for chidren,and a long free-flowing stride that makes it very good as a show horse.

Characteristics:
Although the Galiceno developed in Mexico,it originated in northwest Spain-it is descended from the horses shipped to South America by Cortes in the 16th century;from Cuba he moved north into Mexico.The Galiceno is a tough and hardy breed ,with a great deal of stamina and endurance,and a very distinctive running walk.This gives an exceptionally smooth gait that makes it very easy to ride,so it is beleived to be ideal as an in-between mount for novices and children who are ready to graduate horses.The Galiceno is intelligent,versatile,fast and quite easy to train and is widely used as a ranch horse as well as for riding,pack and light draught.Athough it is relatively small it can carry a full grown man over rough terrain throughout the heat of the day.
