Are we developed nation that we claim to be?
Yes, we look like a developing nation and we have every right to march ahead. Yes, when we look at our developments, which are taking in almost every field, this would look so in the first sight. Do we follow all the rules expected from us? Why is that we follow all the rules while in foreign countries and forget them when back in our own country.
These are double standards and we are proud to accept them, the best of us not ashamed of laughing the rules out. Rules are not for us but for others to follow. We forget them when the time comes to show that we follow the rules without any force. You see we never honk even while in a traffic jam but while back home then we never take our hands of the horn even if there is no need of the same.
Are we really so learned as they think we are?
I mean every one has started to believe that Indians are educated and leaned people, which is true up to an extent. However, that is true up to an extent only. I do not think there is a bigger community, which is more selfish than the Indians community is overall.
We trust in Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam ‘world is like one big home’ but we are the one who trust that our home is the whole world. This is the feeling of thinking in terms of ‘we’ that is pulling us back, putting us in a jam. There is an urgent need of coming out of thinking in selfish terms. We sure will do far better if we think a little selflessly.
We discuss so much about western culture
I agree with them who criticize western culture when this suits them and they can afford to criticize it. However, let me say that we haven’t done better but tried to follow them in a false manner. This is their culture and they are free to do what they feel suits them best. However, never think for a moment that we did not commit mistakes. In fact, we fabricated a few stories and thought we are the only people who are the ideal most people in the world. In fact, we are pretenders. Please excuse me if I am sounding a bit harsh but that is what reality is.
We need to work harder to eradicate our shortcomings
The time has come when we should go all out and work hard to see to that we are no more suffering from terrorism, religious cross-fighting, Naxal activities and anti national activities and yes we should not forget the self controlled discipline to maintain law and order.
We do not need a law-enforcing agency to tell us that we should walk on the pavements. We should drive in the right lanes and should follow the traffic rules. That is too childish. Nevertheless, we are not law-abiding nation by culture. We need a policeman with cane in his hand to make us follow simple rules.
This is high time political parties understand the need of the hour and work toward the welfare of the country and its population. We are in a bad shape at every front and facing not only dangers from outer forces but at the home front as well. There are many problems, which need immediate attentions. Our growth rate is going down at a drastic pace.
We are having a problem of internal security of the worst kind. We are no good at distribution system of wealth at a rational level and worst of all we are a corrupt nation by nature.
Therefore, there is no alternative but to work hard and take ourselves out of the trouble. There is no use waiting for some one to come and do some special efforts for us. We shall have to take our own steps, one by one. One at a time and see ourselves out of the deep waters.
