Best friends
Savita and Kavita were close friends. They were neighbors. They went school to school together they studied together. They played together. These two were good friends.
Good studies
Both of them were good in studies. They stood first rank in the class in all activities. The teachers were very happy with them. The principal often praised them.
Kamala was jealous of their friendship. She wanted to see them quarrel.
One day when no one was around, she took a new pen box from vena’s bag and put it in Kavitha’s bag. When the class gathered again, in Vena found her pen set missing. A search was conducted and the set was recovered from Kavitha’s bag.
Kamala stood up and said Savita might have done it to get even with kavita. In the previous class test, Kavita scored one mark more than Savita. Savita denied the charge. Both Savita and kavita burst into tears.
But by evening, to the surprise of kamala, Savita and kavita were friends again. Both of them knew they would no do anything to hurt each other.
They knew kamala was jealous of them. Probably she herself could have done. It. sensing this, someone went and told the teacher that kamala could have played the mischief.
The following day the teacher called kamala and questioned her. She warned her of serious action if she did not come out with the truth. Finally kamala admitted to having done the mischief to make Savita and kavita quarrel.
Still Savita did not hate kamala. Kavita also treated her kindly. That was too much of kamala. She begged them to forgive her. As Savita and kavita had already forgiven her, it was a warm meting. She also became their close friend.
Forgiveness is the ability to pardon someone for any offence. It helps us develop an attitude of mercy to those who offend us. It heals broken relationships.
But it is not easy. Remember the saying: `to err is human, to forgive is divine’. When we forgive, it brings blessings to the person who forgives and also to the person who is forgiven. If brings us closer to god.
