How did man become different from other animals later on? God gives him three special gifts that helped him to achieve this difference. God‘s Special gifts to mankind are a mind to think, a heart to feel and love and a tongue to speak and express ourselves.
God has given of us a heart to feel and love. If a person uses his heart in the right way, he will cultivate noble qualities.
In the ancient city of Medina, there lived a spiteful old woman. A pious man used to pass through her lane everyday. This man used 6to teach people to do well and believe in the greatness of God.
The woman hated the man for no reason whatsoever. She would wait till the man comes close to her house. Then she would rush upstairs and throw a heap of stinking garbage on him as he passed by. The man did not say a word of protest. He did not even choose to go by another route. Day after day, the man bore this insult patiently. One day, the man passed by the old woman’s house as usual. But to his surprise, there was no shower of garbage that day. He thought, `This is unusual. The old lady makes it a point to throw garbage on me. She hasn’t done so today. Something is wrong let me find out’. He climbed the stairs and went into a ramshackle room. He saw the woman lying there restlessly. But she opened her eyes wide with surprise when she saw the pious man.
The pious man looked at her and said, `I did not see you today, so I came to see you. Is everything all right with you?’’
The woman was in no condition or speaks. She was suffering from high fever. The pious man hurried to fetch a doctor and brought medicines for her. The man tended her, till she was back on her feet.
The woman was deeply ashamed of herself. `I have wronged this good man terribly. Yet, he has taken so much trouble to look after me. How can I ever undo my wrong?’ she thought.
The old lady mustered up her courage and said, ``my good man, forgive me for the way I treated you. I am ashamed of myself. You have been so kind to me though I treated you so badly. How can I ever repay your kindness?’
The old woman decided to change her evil ways immediately and said so to the pious man. This was the man’s biggest reward.
Who do you think the pious man was? It was none other than the great prophet Mohammed, the founder of Islam, whose message was love. He taught people to overcome evil by doing well.
Learn to use God’s gifts in a way that is beneficial to all. Keep your mind pure. Use your heart to love your entire breather in the world. Let your tongue speak no harsh or evil word. Remember, good berets good and goodness always wins.
