Wandering around my orchards, I saw a snake entering inside the hole in my fields. It was a brownish green coloured snake. It was looking very beautiful. I was sitting at a safe distance and watching the activity. Soon it was back outside and there was a rat in its jaws. It swallowed the rat immediately and now I could see it going down the body of the snake like a small ball. It was not the rat that was going down itself but actually it was snake's effort that was pushing it.
I was still sitting there but the snake had gone out of my sight now. I didn't know where. I too got back to my farm house in the orchard.
Memorising the yesterday's scene, I was wondering how nature has created its own food chain to keep the world going. The rats were perhaps necessary to make the soil loose and then their proliferating population is controlled by the snakes so that the crops' production could be regulated.
I had been using lots of insecticide spray in my orchard to control the pests and maximize the profits by getting good production and I was successful in this effort.
But today's incidence was creating a conflict in my mind, whether to continue the previous practice or shift to organic farming.?.................
