Many people build barriers around them. They resign themselves to the fate. “I’m destined to live like this”, is the thought they
ive with all along their lives. Such people suppress their ambitions. They live with what they have within their reach. They are the
ones who never venture to leave their comfort zone and crawl to reach that extra inch, which is likely to make a big difference in their lives.
Prisoners of their own thoughts.
Those restrict themselves to the periphery drawn by them, are the staunch believers in fate. They think their lives are pre-destined, that can’t be changed even by the creator.
It goes without saying, such people are creating their own imaginary self effacing barricades around their thoughts. They do not know, by doing so, they are bringing their Growth to a grinding halt. They are entombing their niche qualities. What a self sabotage ! For them, what more is left but for a listless static life?
When Life becomes static, it’s nothing but death.
"Life is not a static thing. The only people who do not change their minds are incompetents in asylums, who can't are those in cemeteries."- Everett McKinley Dirksen.
Obviously, it all amounts to the fact, individuals without self imposed limitations can go to any length to achieve what they want. They differ from the ordinary folks. They always have a Road map for their activities. They have an unflappable attitude. They believe in giving their best without expectations. Flops and failures will never scare them.
Optimism is their forte.
Optimists' favorite robe is their ‘Smile.’ They wear it all the while. They dismiss failure as a a big boulder that’s blocking the way. Achievers know what to do. They simply turn the boulder to one side and pickup the chit that carries a message, “Start again, no looking back.” This trait makes these people more perseverant, more dedicated and more determined.
Ever willing to learn
Nothing stays forever. They believe in updating their abilities and skills from to time. To stay in tune with the ever changing times, achievers will not leave any stone unturned to keep themselves ever fit.
Day before yesterday, Roger Federer was thought to be uncrowned king of the Tennis world. In no time Federer gone into oblivion and a new star Rafael Nadal appeared on the horizon. No one knows who will be the next champion. So wisdom lies in being fit for ever.
They nurture clean thoughts.
Any thought that’s not negative in nature is a clean thought. A negative thought will corrode an individual’s mind. This makes the people see the darker part of life. Its not all , people with negative attitude discourage others from attempting to handle a task.
They are aware their thoughts shape their lives.
Take a few examples. Despite innumerable failures, Abraham Lincoln never allowed a negative thought enter in to his mind. Had he allowed the massive amount of distress amassed in his heart due to a series of failures, he would not have become the most successful President of the most powerful nation of the world.
When Sigmund Freud was heckled and ridiculed by the scientific community of Europe, he came all the way home and continued his work.
Childlike enthusiasm.
Enthusiasm is a trait that points towards an individual’s will to learn. An achiever always will be bubbling with this quality, which many dismiss as a childish trait. Nothing can be more foolish than this. Aldous Huxley rightly put it,
“The secret of genius is to carry the spirit of the child into old age, which mean never losing your enthusiasm.”The foundations of enthusiasm lie in your strong desire to peep in to the new and hitherto un seen and unexplored avenues. This is the quality that pushed great adventurers like Columbus, Edmund Hillary into action.
‘What,’ Why,’ How’ .
The three questions an achiever often uses, to widen his knowledge base.
Before Sir Isaac Newton, many apples have fallen from the trees. Many took it as a natural phenomenon that is bound to happen after an apple gets ripened.
But it was only Newton who asked himself, “Why, the apple fell on the ground. Why any other thing even it is tossed up, falls on the ground? “
Achievers are good readers of people.
If a friend ditched you once, it doesn’t mean that all friends are dishonest. Achievers will be far away from such thoughts. They think a lot before judging people. If you grow with the wrong assumptions about people around you, you will be robbed off your mental peace. And a person sans mental peace cannot achieve anything in life.
Achievers never expect returns.
They are inspired by nature. An achiever notes how selfless are the elements of nature .
Sun never expects anything from the world for giving light to the people. Clouds never look for rewards for raining and making the earth fertile.
Achievers are duty bound and passionate.
Out of self confidence. One becomes passionate. Bill Gates or A.R Rehman out of extreme confidence on their abilities, they deviated from the conventional education system and chosen their own field which was close to their hearts
Like the dutiful Sun and seasons that perform their respective assigned tasks without fail, Performers will ensure to discharge their duties come what may. And whatever they do they do with all heart.
They relish challenges.
Achievers unlike quitters will not runaway from challenges. Rather they use such adverse conditions to their advantage. Challenges are treated as an opportunity to test the limits of an achiever.
Achievers are good listeners.
Listening is the hall mark of an achiever. Achievers talk less. Listening has a dual advantage. Listening is the best
communication tool for learning. An intense listener will be loved by all in the society.
They lead by example
Super achievers will set an example and become a role model to others. Their ideology becomes worthy of emulation. People of their own accord will follow those achievers. They always ensure to keep themselves spotless and keep their home in order, before going out for sermon to advise Dos and Don’ts to others.
Achievers are the best Time managers.
Achievers at the very outset identify ‘Time wasters’ and ‘Time savers’ in their day to day activities. They are quite aware of the fact that a lost Rupee can be recovered, but not a lost minute. The time allocated to all of us is 1440 minutes. And these are the same 1440 minutes even for a Prince or a pauper.
Sometimes, it may not be possible to stop all the ‘Time wasters.’ For example there is TV time.. In such cases, the achiever finds ways to squeeze some part of it, which can be utilized in a productive way for his advantage. They never waste a moment on useless chit-chat with friends.
At present, there is downtime to power breaks and power shutdowns. During this period, they indulge in mere writing jobs like preparing a draft for an article, making rough jottings for a future speech to be delivered etc.
Highly focused
Focusing on the job means, eliminating the facts that divert the mind. For example while painting, an artist’s field of focusing is only, his canvas and the distant object, which he is transferring to the canvas before him. His viewing will be shifting from the object at the distance and the canvas near him.
They are proactive
Achievers won’t wait for the things to happen. They act in advance with their own strategy and plan. For them there is no ‘Right time’ to start a job. Every moment is a moment to act.In a nut shell, they create a situation congenial to start the job.
A healthy mind in a healthy body.
An achiever will not leave any stone unturned to realize his dreams. Once started, achiever never looks back. No amount of failures or fall downs will dampen his spirits. In order to face the strenuous conditions encountered in , he should be both physically fit and mentally tough.
He sees to it that he maintains a good health
In all it’s clear that persons who have command over their thoughts can command their lives and shape them as they wish.
