Ingredients:

  • Mango fruit  - 1
  • Tamarind - Size of lemon
  • Toor dhal - 200g
  • Red chillies - 7 to 8
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Oil -  2 tsp
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Curry leaves - little
  • Coriander leaves - little

 

Method:

1. Heat oil in a pan and fry toor dhal and red chillies for sometime and then allow it to cool.

2. Grind it to a fine powder in a mixie.

3. Cut the mango to small pieces.

4. Extract tamarind juice for 1  1/2 cups.

5. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.

6. When mustard seeds sputters out, add fenugreek seeds  and mango pieces and fry.

7. Add the tamarind juice , 1/2 cup water, tumeric powder , salt and let it boil.

8. After it is boiled for sometime add the dhal powder and mix it well.

9. After kozhambu is well boiled remove it from the flame.

10. Garnish it with curry leaves and corainder leaves.
