This can be mixed with rice and eaten. It is a great reliever for cough, rheumatic pains, Pitham ( I don't know the english word for this. This is a tamil word ) etc.
Ingredients:
- Ginger - 50g
- Tamarind - Size of lemon
- Grated cocunut - 3 tsp
- Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
- Small onion - 10
- Chilli powder - 2 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
- Coriander powder - 1 tsp
- Asafoetida powder - little
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- Fenugreek seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Curry leaves
- Gingelly oil - 2 tsp
- Salt - As per taste
Method:
1. Remove the skin of ginger and cut to small pieces.
2. Heat gingelly oil in a pan and fry the ginger.
3. Grind together tamarind, coconut, cumin seeds and small onion to a fine paste.
4. Add chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and asafoetida powder to the grinded paste and mix it well.
5. Heat gingelly oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.
6. When mustard seeds sputters out, add fenugreek seeds , curry leaves and fry.
7. Add the needed water an salt to the kuzhambu.
8. When it becomes thick remove it from the stove.
