"Chalte Chalte" is a Hindi film which was released in the year 2003, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee in the lead roles. The other artistes inthe picture include: Jas Arora, Sathish Shah, Jayashree.T and Rajeev Verma. The director of the movie is Aziz Varm and the music was scored by Jatin Pandit and Lalit Pandit.
In this movie, Raj(Shah Rukh Khan) falls in deep love with Priya(Rani Mukherjee). As a result, the engagement of Priya scheduled with Sameer, her betrothed, is called off and Priya gets wedded to Raj with the consent of one and all. This clearly brings out the significance of love in life. Hence, this scene touches my heart and makes it a memorable one.
The couple live a blissful life for one year, after which tension starts to pick up in the family, mainly because of Raj’s disorderly and unkempt ways like throwing shoes and clothes in the hall or dumping cigar ends at all places. Priya, who is more practical and a perfectionist, patiently tells him to change his ways, but finally gives up. On one occasion, when Raj becomes insolvent, Priya helps him come out of his predicament by giving him the money that she had borrowed from Sameer, but lies to him stating that the money is from her own earnings. Raj, later comes to know of the true source of the money and flares up at Priya. At this, Priya loses her patience and she finally decides to bid adieu to him. So, she goes away with her aunt to the airport in order to leave the city. However, Raj comes to the airport and pleads with her to come back, promising her that he will mend his ways. Thus, both are again united.
The songs, mostly shot at scenic locations, are also nice; my favourite ones being the title track of “Chalte Chalte” and another slightly philosophical song entitled “Dagariya Chalo”.
The film focuses on the importance of cleanliness in the home which is what makes me feel good about the movie. It also brings out the significance of a healthy family where both the husband and wife are equally important in managing the household. Also, hidden in the movie is the good thought of helping others who are in need, which is the main purpose of our existence. All in all, the film is a good one which is worth watching as it has a word of advice and also demonstrates the value of love.
The IMDb rating for this movie is 6.5/10 and the movie comes under the genre "Drama/Romance". i strongly recommend this movie for all those who are against violent and like watching a mix of romance and family drama.
