Cast: Paul Newman,Robert Redford
Genre: Crime,Comedy
Plot: A young con artist meets a big con man to dupe the criminal banker of the century avenge his friend's murder.
Review: we are not talking about The Godfather. But this movie being an immediate successor of the successful Godfather had surely a touch of it,though unique in its won taste and different in its own plot.
The seventies were indeed an era of great movies, mainly dramas and crime centric ones, and The Sting is definitely one of the best movies up front. Its a movie on wits, the mastery of conning and duping, the art to cheat better. The movie depicted the alleys and poker culture of the seventies too well.
If you have the patience to watch the slow build up of the plots where the plot turns extremely gripping and entertaining in its own classic flavor, watch this movie. Also,he movie was split into chapters much in the way Tarantino movies are seen today.
Paul Newman was his usual magnetic self, but this was a Robert Redford movie. This guy didnt try too much and did his natural best. A SURE WATCH !!
My Rating: 8/10
It is dark and murky but it had elements of humor and misfortunes all over it. And this one is from Australia and obviously an underrated gem in animation. This clay animation if not child’s play because it can produce fine nuance of peoples as well as animals facial expression and body mannerism with very effectiveness and also high quality animation. Story has been narrated as their life’s and others life surrounding them through letters. In movie humor is sometimes ironic and dark. Not only letters but they exchange their emotions, doubts, questions and some gifts often. Both of them endure solitude and those letters became their only hopes and inspiration. Well developed animation which even keeps eye on not so important pet animal’s expressions and their behavior. Also one of the most haunting bgm ever makes this movie a different experience but an upset mood. Mary and Max are two poles apart in many things but the loneliness thing attach them together and thus both of them value each other very much. Their age might be different and contrast but towards the climax you witness that in real friendship only love towards each others only matters.
Till watching this Up was my favorite animated movie of recent times. Director Adam Elliot sounds Greek to me but still I adore him for creating such a beautiful motion picture.

The Collector
Who is the collector and wtf was he collecting i am still not sure about it
seems like he is more obsessed with setting traps than collecting as the whole movie we get to c numerous amount of traps in the whole house which would have taken months to set....add to it a dumb plot...and bad direction.....
but barring all these its still watchable once to kill time

MY NAME IS KHAN
Watching My Name is Khan in the theaters was a real treat. The songs and locations were just wonderful. The story is about Rizvan 'Khan' who is suffering from autism who goes on a journey to meet the president of America. The script was superb. And acting, SRK once again proves he is the real badshah of bollywood, what an acting and Kajol, wow she looked gorgeous and her acting was also good. Coming to the songs Shankar Ehsaan Loy has struck the chord right in this one. The song 'Tere Naina' was pleasing to hear. It also had some good jokes by SRK. I also felt that there was a little amount of 'Forrest Gump' in it.The movie had its heart in the right place and one of Karan Johar's best. And yes one of SRK's best. This is a great bollywood movie. A must watch! Highly recommended!

Chaplin(1992)
The biopic of the great tramp.....the real man behind one of the greats of World Cinema. Famous though he is, giving a new dimension to movie-making, a creative genius at his best, his personal life was troubled and.....controversial.
The movie portrays his life starting as a vaudeville actor and reaching America and subsequent rise to stardom. From the scene he was left at the orphanage(which latter inspired him to make " The Kid") to the moment he receives the Honorary Oscar.......everything is beautifully done. The backgrounds of his masterpieces are also shown.......In summary, a treat for a Chaplin fan.
Robert Downey Jr. acted really well as the legend.......his eyes were very expressive......captures the emotions wonderfully.
The movie expresses the things "The Tramp" wanted to say........but the magic is missing somewhat.....may be that's the tragedy with reality. Kudos to Richard Attenborough though, for this wonderful film.
But in words of Chaplin, "If you want to understand me, watch my movies." and in one of the scenes when Chaplin is devastated by the news of death of a friend ,he is asked " What'll we do Charlie?"......"Smile", says the legend.

Director : Milos Forman
Cast : Jim Carrey, Danny Devito, Courtney Love, Paul Giamatti
Man on the Moon is a biographical depiction of the life of Andy Kauffman - An entertainer and stage/sitcom artist who took objection to people calling him a 'comedian'. He introduced himself as a 'song and dance man'. A truly multi-faceted performer who was loved and hated at the same time by people in his prime, he also was an inter-gender wrestling champion. Famous for his on stage set-ups, pranks and creation of fictitious characters, he evolved from a club performer to a man watched by 40 million people worldwide. This movie tries to shed some light on the personal ups and downs of Kauffman and the effects of his public life on his shaping up as a human. Even a premature death due to lung cancer did not mellow down the aura this man had. Man on the Moon looks at Kauffman's life as a chapter - Starting from childhood, to his prime days and ends with a question lingering in the minds of the viewer.
On the acting front, Jim Carrey lives the character of Kauffman. People will agree with me that no other actor could have given this movie and character the justice that Carrey gave.
Danny Devito in his supporting act is great. There are innumerable characters in the movie (Some people playing themselves such as David Letterman, Jerry Lawler etc), But the power of Carrey's performance is such that we only remember him throughout and after the movie.
Why not an Oscar Nomination for Carrey I ask? The movie has it's happy and sad moments which will leave a smile on the face or a tear in the eye of the viewer. I personally had goosebumps while watching some scenes namely :
1) The Christmas Act of Kauffman and appearance of Santa Claus .
2) The Philliphines Miracle healing hoax and the reaction of Carrey.
3) The Final Scene which I will not mention here.
Overall, surely one of the best biographical movies I have seen ever. Highly Recommended.

Director : Billy Wilder
Cast : William Holden, Robert Strauss, Don Taylor, Peter Graves
In Hollywood and other film industries, there have been many movies on Prisoners of War (POW'S) of the Second World War. But the first account of their life and 'escapades documented by Billy Wilder in this movie (Atleast, the movie narrator says so). Stalag means prison in German and this movie deals with the POW's of Stalag 17. This particular prison has surprisingly all sergeants as inmates who are continuously trying to flee prison but in vain. After the death of two of their companions in a bid to escape, they suspect a spy amidst them. Their main suspect is a flamboyant Sgt. J.J. Sefton (Holden) who has a very good rapport with the Germans and exchanges many goodies for other favors. Many events occur consequently that strengthen their suspicion on Sefton. To prove his innocence, Sefton decides to find the real culprit. Is he successful in his conquest and who is the 'real' spy is the basis of the story. Wilder in his inimitable style has not kept this movie an all serious affair. This is actually a very light-hearted thriller drama which makes you laugh all along. I personally feel this movie inspired some of the scenes in the greatest POW movie ever 'The Great Escape'.
This movie has got a gang of characters. But some who stand apart with their performances are obviously William Holden as the complicated Sefton, Robert Strauss as the somewhat weird, silly but lovable Stanislas Kasava and Robinson Stone as the mute music lover Joey. It certainly has got it's moments, but I felt there was something missing somewhere.
