Positive effects of Reality TV.??
Shows like Roadies and Fear Factor give us a full-on treat on 'Adventure'.. Do you think that watching others do death-defying stunts in T.V give us some amount of motivation. Like, if someone from Fear Factor can carry of munching some leeches, or climbing huge mountains.. Does that make you feel that even you can do it.. or move ahead and perform such a task..
How many times have you found yourself watching Big Brother whilst quizzing yourself on why you are watching such rubbish? It makes us feel tasteless, dirty and cheap and if it didn't I'm sure that we wouldn't bother watching it.
People are just totally gripped by misanthropy, the ridiculous and the cruel to an extent where they just can't divorce themselves from it.
With all this said, reality TV is perhaps the best thing to come out of the television networks within the last few years. It has created a buzz that many shows have failed to match. People have something to talk about when they meet at the coffee shops and have been reminded that TV can actually be exciting and is a great well to tell human stories.
Would those Big Brother contestants act the same if there were no cameras? I strongly doubt it, but, I suppose without them we wouldn't know so you can't really win. No reality show can even come close to the layered and intelligent comedy that is shown with the likes of The Simpsons, but, both genres certainly seem to have a role in the televisual marketplace.
I'm sure everybody has found themselves willing on their favourite Indian Idol contestant at some point and being distraught when they get eliminated. If you can actually get motivated in doing something positive from the reality shows, its good for you. If you take them for the negative aspect, its you who'll suffer in the end.
So, about the motivation factor, I feel, it depends on one's wish. I know, I watch Roadies for the fun, and drama; I do not watch it to be motivated to perform such acts!
How far the question goes for adventure reality shows? No morals buddy, it only motivates people to break their bones and do gruesome acts in real life which is very saddening to their families.
-Ben Roethlisberger was revealed as next week's RAW guest host. Joining him will be the entire Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line. After that, Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole run down the card for this Sunday's "Hell In A Cell" PPV. They finish up and introduce their guest host, Rev. Al Sharpton.
Backstage: Final Rev. Al Sharpton Segment
Rev. Al Sharpton is backstage and says he wants to thank everyone. In runs Jillian Hall who mentions how he used to work with James Brown. She mentions how she's possibly a better singer than him and says maybe he could work for her. She does a bad version of "Living In America". Rev. Al keeps a straight face and calmly tells her he doesn't think so. He tries to again wrap up and The Bella Twins run in. He says they heard he can sing and dance. They ask him to please dance and sing. He sings some James Brown and dances with The Bella Twins. He tells us goodnight and thanks for having him and continues his dance.
-Backstage we see John Cena walking slowly to the ring, as up after the commercial he runs the Gauntlet against Chris Jericho, Big Show and Randy Orton.
-John Cena vs. Chris Jericho
Cena makes his way to the ring. A little pause and Jericho's solo music hits as Justin Roberts announces Cena's first opponent, Chris Jericho. Match begins. Michael Cole mentions that Jericho has never defeated John Cena in a singles match. Is that true? Cena gets some offense in early but Jericho quickly takes control. Jericho beating Cena down here early on. Cena starts to comeback and hits the Five Knuckle Shuffle. He tries for the Attitude Adjustment but Jericho reverses into the Walls Of Jericho. Cena makes it to the ropes but Jericho refuses to break the hold. Ref calls for the bell.
Winner via DQ: John Cena
Gauntlet Match #2:
-John Cena vs. Big Show
Jericho still refusing to let go of the Walls Of Jericho as Big Show slowly makes his way to the ring. Cena is completely out as Big Show finally enters the ring for this, the second match in the Gauntlet. Jericho stays at ringside as Big Show begins his assault on the WWE champion. "Cena, Cena" chant from the crowd as we head to a mid-match commercial. We return from commercial and Big Show has Cena in a bear-hug. Jericho is yelling at the ref that Cena is finished as Big Show continues to squeeze on the bear-hug. Big Show lets it go and calls for the chokeslam. He picks Cena up for the chokeslam but Cena counters in mid-air, hitting a semi-botched DDT on Big Show. Both guys are down. Cena is back up and picks Big Show up. He's got him up for the Attitude Adjustment. Jericho comes in and knocks Cena over, with Big Show's full body-weight crashing down on him. Jericho and Big Show stomp away at Cena as the match is called.
Winner via DQ: John Cena
(HELL IN A CELL)
-John Cena vs. Randy Orton
Big Show and Jericho continue to punish Cena as Randy Orton's music hits and out comes the former WWE champion. Orton slowly creeps up on Cena, who slowly struggles to make his way to his feet. He gets up and is hurt but points one finger to the roof. Orton looks up and the Hell In A Cell cage starts lowering. Orton freaks out and tries escaping the ring before the cage traps him in. Cena hops on Orton and is just trying to keep him in the ring at this point. The cage finally lowers and both guys are locked inside. "Cena, Cena" chant erupts as the final Gauntlet match, inside a Hell In A Cell, is about to begin. Orton runs for the door and Cena blocks him. They start brawling and they end up busting through the door anyways. Orton immediately climbs up the cage as Cena chases him up to the top. Orton is on top of the cell now as Cena is finishing his climb. Cena is now up and they stare at each other. They exchange punches and Cena hoists Orton up over his shoulders. He hits the Attitude Adjustment on Orton on top of the cage. Cena poses, replays are shown as his music hits. That's our final image from the RAW crew as we head into this Sunday's Hell In A Cell PPV.
According to some reports, there's a strong possibility that the DX/Legacy feud will continue following this Sunday's "Hell In A Cell" pay-per view, formulating in a traditional 8-man team match at the "Survivor Series" PPV in November. Of course, this would mean the program extends past the upcoming "Bragging Rights" PPV at the end of October as well.
India is a land of celebrities. Whether it is our cricketers, filmstars or politicians we idolize them. Sachin, Gavaskar, Dhoni, Akshay or Amitabh, Chiranjeevi or Rajanikanth have attained iconic status in their areas of activities and rightly deserve the celebrity status they are accorded.
It is said that behind every successful man there is a successful woman. Similarly it could also be said that behind every successful celebrity there is another successful celebrity who could have been a possible source of inspiration. A great cricketer like Sachin had Gavaskar as his idol, while the brilliant Sehwag had Sachin as his idol. The success of their respective idols inspired Sachin and Sehwag to being what actually they are now.
The younger generation always look up to a role model. Sachin's exemplary behaviour both on and off the field could be perfect inspiration for a youngster to copy. On the contrary misdeeds of another celebrity could also be copied by the younger generation. John Mc Enroe was a great player but he was equally known for his tantrums as well. If somebody smashes his racket or abuses the referee today, Mc Enroe could also be indirectly held responsible for setting a bad example.
The number of times our Bollywood stars marry or have a affair is certainly a bad example for the younger generation. Media may definitely defend the stars saying it is their personal lives but at the end of the day, the star is responsible for setting a bad example. While Shahrukh Khan has set a good example for being a loyal husband, the umpteen number of marriages or affair Saif Ali Khan or Aamir Khan has had is certainly not good news for the younger generation and particularly those who idolize them.
Thanks to the advent of Television, a wider cross section people are having access to information. In this regard it is very important for celebrities to exercise some restraint in their personal lives keeping in view the well being of future generation.

Satish
