Roa7ies - Let's get it straight.
But before that its Rajeev and not Raghu in "The Player", the new show on channel V.
Now the main things and the reason I couldn't help myself to not to create this thread:
One:
What's the capital of Haryana?
Has something changed recently?
Not just the people creating threads in this community but MTV as well states Chandigarh as the heart of 'Punjab'with no reference to Haryana.
Chandigarh is a unique UT to be a capital of both the states to state the fact clear.
So why not state it as it is?
Two:
Why are some of you now denunciating Raghu and stating "Roadies is better without him"??
Some of you are so hypocitical that you were all going gala over Raghu and his tactics for the past two years and now that he is not there you are celebrating the fact that 'its better without him'?
He has played an important part in forming the Roadies saga and if it weren't for him some of you must have been "adjusting" with watching "pogo" or Downloading those star studded foreign movies to get that adrenaline rush.
Not that there is anything wrong with them, but you chose, and then why did you chose it then if you are feeling it better now without the bitter sweet tweaks and the beeps?
Glib and gibberish ain't it??
Raghu has his own dimensions of calculating one's mind. He just as Psychologist
by reviewing some incident he used to tell the tht persons biography
but some thing hpned. when roadies 6 was given to bumpy we adjusted.
Now to we hv to da same
Just let some time to go on. if it cnt MTV itself starts working on tht :)
and dusre saab udhar kya kar rai? working under raghu?
And Roadies is MTV's Show
"Raghu ke wajah se Roadies nahi hain,Roadies ki wajah se Raghu hain!" N abusing raghu behind his back is really obscene!! I remember the last season when he snapd a guy I guess wid the name noel or sumthng when dat guy said dat a gal living in a livin relationship is a slut.. N the discussions abt condom vending m/c in colleges n many other such discussions. I totally respect raghu!! His way, his thoughts, his attitude all wer perfect.. Nw wen he has moved on some pathetic losers are abusing him juzz to flaunt their belligerence.. Those sick batards dnt hav guts to respect the person 'coz of whom they are discussing abt roadies. Raghu Rocks...
There are people above Raghu as well, not all people work under him.
Haven't you seen Raghu's boss in the 5th season?
Heard about anyone named Ashish Patil?
Yes, Roadies was Raghu's idea but he had given his concept to MTV which is why MTV has the right to continue the show without him.
.
What so bad is this are just auditions, real journey hasn't been started yet, but speculations are reaching sky high.
The Seventh Circle - Roa7ies Chandigarh Auditions
Because the selections as just as they may be do not look the least bit credible when all you show of someone is him jumping on and off a chair or wearing a rabbit mask and talking to thin air. It is so absolutely downright stupid! To squish in 8 legit PI's and twenty product integrations into a 40-50 minute show is impossible and if it were upto me I'd have split this episode in two and showed a little bit more of everyone's PI. Next week, as it seems, they are clubbing the auditions of two cities - one being Delhi, which itself usually deserves one supersized episode. WTF are they thinking!?
I am all for a change of format but the change of tone is totally repulsive. And it is so goddamn obvious that the tonality shift is conscious, you can literally see Nikhil holding back the swears from escaping his mouth and I do not understand why that was the brief. It worked all these years and logic would dictate sticking to a winning formula even if those executing it change. Raghu or no Raghu, you bloody well better keep the intensity of the show as it was and not dilute it in a sea of giggles and gags.
The celebrity guest appearance was so pointless! Why was he there, why wasn’t he all the time, what did he add to the interview procedure, what was the logic of him being there in the first place – all left unanswered. You can’t even call it cheap PR. It had all the credibility of a random actor popping in and saying, “Main hu Emraan Hashmi aur aap dekh rahe hai Roadies sirf MTV par.” which I hope won’t be the case when Irrfan Khan finally shows up. Come to think of it, where is he?
As for the selections, Ravneet if she makes it in will be a fresh character in the show if she doesn’t morph into a wannabe angrez. Nisha is a rehash of the brute female character ala Palak, Prabhjot, Poonam. The one in pink who couldn’t recite Twinkle Twinkle is the airhead PYT. Couple things I hated – a tormented childhood is almost becoming a commonality, so much that even my mom notices it now. I am very much against bringing in mummys and daddys into the interview. Very soap-opera. Very uncool. The other thing I hated to the core was the absolute joke that was made of Mohit’s interview. WHERE WAS THE MENTION THAT HE WON A FREAKIN’ SHOW!?
even i for an instnc din lyk the way ppl got selected by doin tasks like "make ppl drink mountain dew while screaming".(priyanka ,kolkota audiz).......ok i wud buy the fact tht it wuz juss a part of their pi n there wuz more to it....but we as a viewer shud atlst see the part which relected their roadie quality. show had some what serious thing and more of fun included allover it was good one. But i as expecting more from MOHIT'S Interview but it was made funny and was full of fast forward. I feel ERIC's PI was way better than MOHIT's atleast there was something to see.
1 more guy got selected i don't even remember the name he was engineering student his interview was also the same type. But he got selected.
And Cyrus told that he liked Mohit's Energy in the night so he got selected so is only the energy matters?
BPO guy got selected because of Sentiment!
I really wish I could defend tonight’s show. I cannot. And that disappoints me.
But i do not disagree completely with this thread. Yes Cyrus S isn't being shown and isn't appearing as a well formulated persona amid "Roa7ies - Seven deadly sins" and presence of Imraan Hashmi is misconceptual. And also the fact that the enticing presence of Irfaan Khan so early to the show issn't going well with the lengthy auditioning phase, that may be one of the reaaons for such quickening and fading audition episodes.
Am I just speculating?? NO.
I see reasons and I am waiting for time to pass by to see more reasons. I am being scrupulous
The same questions were there in my mind as well
> Why show the auditions of 2 cities in a single episode?
> Why not mention the RBG part during Mohit's interview?
> Why does Sahukar lack humour?
Even the selection of some of the Roadies was doubtful.
Either they did not deserve to be selected or we were not shown the footages which makes them a deserving Roadie.
The Natural Selections: Dar-view-nism – 15/11/09
Preface
Well, this web has a lot of reviewers and Darwin doesn’t want to be left behind in this race, so here’s a review from the seat of an 80 year Naturalist!
Here, Darwin gives you his Dar-view-nism.
Darwin continues to brief people about his theories and research of a unique species called ROADIES.
Introduction
After a lethargic outcome of Kolkata auditions, the responsibility of bringing back the charm of Roadies was now in the hands of the Chandigarh auditions.
I switched on my TV and sat on my rocking chair with a cup of tea on one hand and some biscuits (for my doggy) on the other.
Rocking back and forth, I kept my eyes glued on TV, taking a sip now and then and praying for some entertainment this week.
With the change in format, my expectations from the auditions had changed from aggressive, ass-drilling episodes to a passive, less grilling episode filled with concrete humour and right judgment.
Chapter I – The Aura
No wonder, the starting sequence of the show with body-painted actors and beautiful backdrops are a treat to the eye.
It clearly reflects the theme of the journey and has been successful in depicting the 7 sins which completes the Wild Safari.
MTV Roadies has reached Chandigarh and we get to see a lot of different species battling it out in the GDs in a quest for survival.
Moderators were slightly disappointed from this year’s contestants but they manage to send a handful of people to their next test of survival – the PI round.
Chapter II – The ‘creative’ pwning
Enters ‘Nisha’, the 1st contestant of the PI round, a typical Punjabi kudi who loves dance, gana, sona, chai peena etc. :|
The judges shock her – Roadies isshtyle by calling Emraan Hashmi whom she had promised to kiss if given a chance
Characteristics: head strong, emotional, short-tempered but confident. A typical tomboy.
Judges call another contestant with whom she had a tiff while she was outside. The girl joins Nisha in the interview but the former easily dominates her.
The Mogambo test:-
Judges call a muscular freak named Mogambo, and gives both Nisha and Saloni a challenge to push him out of a circular boundary drawn around him.
Although Saloni calls herself creative, she fails to use her creativity to push Mr. Mogambo out of the circle.
Nisha proves that she is not all brawns but brains as well by pushing Mogambo out of the boundary pretty easily.
By this time my doggy starts barking at me as I was glued to the TV since the last 10 mins not realizing that he has finished his biscuits :|
Chapter III – The mama’s boy
While I offer more biscuits to my doggy, another contestant Vikramjeet enters the PI room. A smart guy who works in a BPO and hates people who poke him.
For the first time in the history of Roadies a contestant’s mom is called in the PI room so that the judges can know more about him.
Characteristics: Confident, smart and intellectual. His different personality makes him special.
Chapter IV – The Desi Beat
Ravneet, the desi Punjabi girl was next. I reckon these kinds of species are quite rare on this planet and this very quality of being rare went in her favour.
This girl has never been on a plane but wants to be a Pilot – some confidence she has!
Judges gave her a task of doing 50 sit-ups which she did with much ease.
Characteristics: Bubbly, strong and crazy. She has the right mix of qualities which would help in survival.
===
Chapter V – The Legend
Finally my doggy is done with eating his biscuits; I grab my cup of tea and was about to take the next sip when I see a familiar face entering the PI room.
This guy’s name is Devendra and he has been trying for Roadies since the last 5 years but this is the first time that this person has passed the 1st round of survival.
As judges are already acquainted with his face and personality, they didn’t bother asking him about his life. Rather they tested his knowledge about Africa.
“South Africa has mummies” is what they got for an answer
Characteristics: Confident and strong but lacks common sense. Has never say die spirit but a bit boring personality.
===
Chapter VI – Nothin
Well the judges are bored by now and I am half way through my cup of tea (yeah drink real slow :p).
So both Nikhil and Cyrus Sahukar have left the PI room while Cyrus Broacha gets to live his long lost Bakra days with the next subject.
His name is Yatin but all we hardly got to know about him as he was busy narrating his life to Cyrus who left the room before he started his story
Characteristics: Simple guy, didn’t get to know much about him. Looked like just another contestant.
Chapter VII – The Chick
Ranjana, the typical blonde. Miss India North 2009.
She performed well when she was given a challenge of hugging 25 people in 5 mins.
Her nursery rhymes were cute.
Characteristics: Who cares? A chick is surely needed in the game
===
Chapter VIII – The flying Warrior
“Here comes our champ!” I said when I saw Mohit entering the PI room. My doggy jumped on my bed thinking that I was calling him :|
Well Cyrus had a pretty good time with him as well, he made him hop, skip and jump everywhere in the PI room
Mohit managed to impress the judges with his energy. Doing push ups in that Bunny suit wasn’t that easy!
Characteristics: A good performer as we all know, was hyper-active at 1:30am in the night. Possesses a true Roadie spirit.
===
Chapter IX – The wish and the Chopra
Enters Rishabh, a self-confessed flirt.
Judges call the girl – Mannat, with whom he was flirting and decide to interview both of them at the same time :p
Both of them fail miserably in performing the head stand, but they were impressive when it came to doing push ups.
Both of them got badly pwned by Nikhil though :p
Characteristics: Rishabh: Mauritius is in Africa. Mannat – She can do more push ups than anyone else. Both of them confident but a bit dumb.
So finally I was done with my cup of tea and we saw 8 people getting selected from the Chandigarh, each of them having a unique characteristic of their own.
The Results were as follows:-
1. Nisha:-
Judges say: Selected!
Darwin says: Selected! She has the strength to survive the race.
2. Vikramjeet:-
Judges say: Selected!
Darwin says: Selected! He would mix well with other people, fits in the unique race.
3. Rishabh and Mannat:-
Judges say: Selected!
Darwin says: Umm… not quite. She Such people are common in every city, lets see how they perform in the Ride with Rannvijay round.
4. Ravneet:-
Judges say: Selected!
Darwin says: Selected! A complex species which I would love to study!
5. Ranjana:-
Judges say: Selected!
Darwin says: Selected! As I said, we need a chick anyway
6. Yatin:-
Judges say: Selected!
Darwin says: Not Selected! Didn’t get to see much of his PI, looked like a boring person, rest will get to know in the next round.
7. Mohit:-
Judges say: Selected!
Darwin says: Selected! The typical hard core performer needed in every season of Roadies!
*I leave the room to keep the empty cup in the sink*
This time too the initial pre-PI events were wrapped up in five minutes before the PI of the first contestant Nisha began. Ravneet is a welcome breath of fresh air. Nisha would play her typecast role of a female toughie. Wonder what Rishabh and Mannat had that Devender did not have. They did a few push ups which I guess even Devender would have done had he been asked to do so. Anyway all three of them didn’t have a clue about the African continent. So probably the portions of the PI that they did not show might have the clue for the selection of this pair.
Wonder whether there are any invisible judges aiding Nikhil. Cyrus Sahukar is just warming the seat and Cyrus Broacha’s antics are actually distracting, although quite welcome I guess.
This year's format seems to make the point that you can get a peep into a person’s character without browbeating him. Sometimes when it becomes all yelling, you freak a candidate out without even getting to know whether he has any stuff in him. Just stoically bearing the yelling is not the criteria; else any PC can become a roadie.
I like this change in tonality, though compared to the previous seasons, without the yelling, it looks a bit tame. Any change is uncomfortable and I guess the initial discomfort is just that. Moreover, I guess the change in tonality is more to do with “instructions/directions” from the Government being enforced, rather than one brought about by the producers on their own. Else, an outside chance is that this could be a conscious departure by Nikhil to tread a different path and I am sure he would want us to believe it is the latter .
Ravneet is my favourite from Chandigarh auditions and hope she makes it to SA. ===
So that’s it for today from Darwin! Hope you guys enjoyed this Dar-view-nism.
Special thanks to Arjit for helping me out on this!
MTV proves what Roadies is about!(?)
Well i saw so many people talking about Cyrus,Nikhil,Cyrus(CNC) replacing Raghu and Rajiv (RR).No, m not talking about each n every one of you. But am talking about the ones who commented on about how judge panel has flopped and they are making show boring. Hey its not confined to you guys not liking them, i have even seen my roommates, classmates saying that. But after todays episode everything is clear. People are getting adapted to the change.
So now first of all, what we must try to understand is the show makers perspective. What they did here is they tried to bring some changes and yes not small ones but some big ones. They replaced RR who were really very famous amongst the fans and specially Raghu, many of us started and used to watch Roadies because of him. Yes, no denying in the fact that he was an integral part of Roadies. And now MTV removed him.
So is this a wrong or stupid decision ??
Well, according to me NO. It is not, infact it is something which may help them in long run.
Why ?
To know the reason, lets first take what is Roadies. Well its a reality gameshow whose main theme is people of different backgrounds put together and they give their best in tasks to make it till last. Roadies originally is not about poilitics. Its just about tasks and the journey where we get to see carefree contestants just performing the tasks and enjoying the journey of their life.
And in past few years this has been replaced by POLITICS, yes people started giving more emphasis on winning the show than enjoying it and for that they stooped down to a new low in every season. Tasks and enjoyment took the back seat and what becomes first is being till the last. And yes i know the line, HAR ROADIE AKELA HAI is being brought up MTV guys only. And yup for 5 seasons they made us believe that this is the integral theme of Roadie. But actually it isnt. Its the TASKS and the ENJOYMENT.
So, what i think is MTV gave us 5 great years with all this but in a long run that obviously is going to get monotonous. Roadies is just becoming a show where people just shout. Yes, ask everyone around what you like in Roadies. The most common answer is RAGHU. People forgot that its something by MTV, instead they started thinking that the show is by Raghu and its totally Raghu's and nobody else's.
According to me, it affected Roadies so much that the shows copying Roadies, din copy the tasks or the kind of performance related adrenaline rush. But instead they choose to copy the interview round swearing and shouting and the politics. This i think is what kind of mindset that has started to develop in mind of other people. And the thing thats worst affected by it is the main motto of Roadies.
So, for me whether the new judges are good or bad i wont comment so soon. But what i would like to appreciate is the step taken by MTV. They removed the USP of Roadies but only to increase the longevity of the show. Only to remove some negative approach towards the show by many people. And to bring back focus on the Journey and not on just P.I..
Yes, earlier there were people for whom watching Roadies was just confined to watching P.I. they never cared about the journey.
Er-Ic-eD - 7 Moments
Living in a far off country has its disadvantages like having to watch roadies episodes almost 6 days later. But i did and am here to review the episode in 7
1) It is a new format, there will be no more long queues and waiting. Everything in the initial stage is done online, which makes sense considering which age we are living in and also helps those form rural background to get onto the internet for roadies atleast. Saves a lot of time with it being online, doesnt change the format much except for the exerience lost in standing in line.
2) I just happened to to notice that there were around 30 people in the final frame when the results were being announced which meant 30 people were called for interview from the gd out of a lot of members who in turn were short listed from the online forms. RBG's top 100 i suppose were given a direct entry to the gd round where u have to face another 12 people. Guys u were very lucky! thank webbie for it! I am really impressed by the way RBG is turning out in terms of roadies. Love the innovation.
3) Judges - Both of them arnt doing it for the first time, but yet because of the presence raghu and his brother created last time, it looked like that. Decent job, not the kind of auditions we are used to seeing but i figure out that it is all a part of a process of something new.
4) NEXT LEVEL JUDGE - The man brings a smile on anytime,so it is hard to digest him as a roadies judge . Seriousness lost in the auditios. But again, that might be what theyr trying to do.
5) Contestants - This might be the first time though that so little has been shown of the videos as in the audience has been given very little chance of assessing the contestants. Good, no pre show favourites. Let the tasks decid
6) ERIC - wht was that audition about? atleast what we were supposed to see. Surely it has got us interested on how has he got selected. Something more seems to be expected form eric. Lets wait and see . BTW very disapointed with the way the communities reacted to his selection.
Just one thread related to the auditions or roadies in general on the first page!
7) Did i miss it on mtv site or was one guys audition just not shown? The videos have been broken down into too small segments. Think you can do with 10 pieces of slightly larger footage rather than 20 3 minute videos on the site. And add to it the 30 second add on every video, which i can understand.Plus i guess the videos have been uploaded very late. You have a lot of nri audience, dont disapoint us
