Five debt-ridden farmers have committed suicide in last three days in Vidarbha region.

They have been identified as Eknath Madavi of Wandali (Chandrapur), Chandkant Mesharam of Sarali (Bhandara) Dilip Kumare of Nimboli (Wardha ), Prahlad Rathode of Grampoha (Washim) and Shankar Gujarkar of Sawra (Akola).

All the victims were already debt-ridden and their financial woes compounded as they lost standing crop due to the recent heavy rains, Kishor Tiwari of Vidarbha Jan Andolan Samiti (VJAS) said in a press release today.

This is very shocking. The suicide by farmers in Vidarbha is not a new happening. Some time back similar thing occurred. Apparently, no remedial action has been taken to sole peasant problems.
this is really a very bad news.........farmers suicide is increasing every year........govt should take initiative to help farmers.......

I think there was some less death due to care taken by congress governement but again the tole is rising which shows that actions taken by congress havent reach all farmers..
Agriculture minister might be busy in some other affairs.not related 2 his ministry & our media too in promoting movies like endhiran, 3 idiots & other forthcoming movies
Farmers commiting suicide is not a new news atall. its all way too common in India, government has to take initiatives to control this.
