Resident and non resident are technical terms. Indians are Indians it is not question where they are living. They like and love Indian cultures and traditions.

 

Very true ! In USA there is a sizeable community of Jews who are citizens of America.But they have a custom where at least one member of the family visits Israel every year and does community service free of charge , just to show their love and solidarity for their mother country . So, why should we question our people, simply because they organise a cultural show for Modi and not anyone else before ? and question their patriotism ? 

TANA, Telugu Association of North America is one such Association formed by the Telugu NRIs in America. The association has its own temples and Auditoriums for organizing Cultural and literary programmes. At the same time the Association arranges receptions for any Indian luminary from every field.

 TANA  sends  cultural delegations to AP organized in the important cities of AP. This all amounts to the  love and affection of the Telugus  towards their Motherland.

Criticism on such matters speaks of the narrow mindedness.

Therefore it is being justified that a foreign citizen of Indian origin can have patriotism to two countries. But same accomodation is not shown to many Indians when they show love for some other culture while they are citizens of this country. Why this double standard? Be broadminded for a change.

Is it showing the love to a foreign country or spewing  venom on a forign soil that's an arch rival to India ? there is a difference. And there are no double standards

Any citizen of a country should follow the rules of the country and be loyal to the country not have one foot in one place and the other in another place and not take advantage of the generosity of the host country . The citizenship too should be legal and not questionable . As far as citizenship given by the UK government is concerned, they would give it only after you fulfill the conditions laid down by the government unlike us where some simply are given such status because they either marry into certain families , and in some cases they even retain their previous citizenship although it is illegal to do so .When an individual is contributing in a positive manner to the all round growth and welfare of the country rather than become a selfish gauntlet , people are bound to raise doubts and questions, here or there !

Citizenship is given on a foreigner marrying a citizen by both US and UK. This is one route followed by NRI's especially for getting brides for their sons. This is legal. Same is followed by India also.  Obsession with one family should not be an excuse to misrepresent facts.

I agree. Country comes first and only then the region where we hail from.

 

 

In India the rule is slightly different and if followed it is great ...I doubt many of those who are after power bother to follow rules thats where the problem comes !
