With all respect to Hon'ble High Court, I don't understand how the govt,. employees can be discriminated in matters like educating children.  Morever, how you will define neta. All Neta are not public servants. Many workonly in organization and are not elected. Even the elected ones are for fixed period of five years. It is okay to seek improvement of govt. schools but it is too much to compel anyone to sendhis children to govt. school only.  There may be other issue. A Sikh employee may like to send his children to a Kalsa school instead of govt. school. Here is involved religion as well. 

The word Netas is used by the media. And it is not uncommon to see the word " NETA' in the public. And the other things you mentioned perhaps will be given clarity in the final report to be submitted to the Allahabad High court,

The condition of government schools is due to policies of government itself. In many states, government teachers are selected through various examinations and those who perform best are selected. In Rajasthan RPSC conducts exams for selecting teachers and those who clears the exam are only selected. So there are qualified teachers also in these government schools, but the reason of worst condition of these schools is because in some places where there is good strength of students there are less teachers and where there are less students in those schools there are more than required teachers. And if there is balance in student teacher ratio, most teacher got transferred due to political or other reason.

Some of the government schools which are not influenced by politicians and have appropriate student - teacher ratio are performing well, giving better results than private schools.

There is a necessity of  a change for the functioning of the  government schools in an acceptable way so that the benefits of education can be reaped by the people. Netas howl at the top of their voices to improve the standards in the government schools and send their wards to the private schools. Why ?. It's the double talk of these Politicians and self - styled  Netas.

And with a view to stop this dual standards, the court has taken this decision.

I feel that it is an impulsive ruling by the court so that the conditions of the government schools get improved at least after the public servants children are forced to study there ...Like roads around ministers homes schools to may see better days if these people are compelled to use government schools..

The very aim of the court is to make realize the politicians to see the dreary conditions existing in the Government schools. unless these politicians who send their children to the private corporate educational institutes have  PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, the condition of the government schools will not improve.

Kaamwalis in Mumbai are sending their children to expensive English medium private schools  government organisations cannot excel because there is security of service and no personal stake. It is better that public schools are slowly allowed to die. Te vacuum will be filled by private schools and competition will ensure reasonably good education.

Allowing the public schools to die slowly will solve the problem.? As it is the fees of private schools are touching the stars. One thing can be done. The government should prescribe a  charge which is within the reach of the commoner. If the schools fail to comply with the Government prescribed fees structure, they should be de- recognized.

Then like government hospitals let them run and accept the fact that quality will not be there. Something is better than nothing. Conditional grants have no meaning. Fudging of data is well known ability of Indian bureaucracy.

But something has to be done. It is the duty of the government to provide education to all.

I am not sure if free education should be compulsory for all...Government n doubt has to make provisions for schools but it need not be free for all !

Thank you . Correction has been done. Right to education is in the agenda of the government.

The citizens have a right not to receive free education and chose better education for their children. Government has to act as an enabler also not always a provider.

 The government should not only introduce a law but it should also see it is effectively implemented.

 I too feel the same , that the judge was venting out his frustrations although I see his point ! Some of the schools are run from a shed in villages and have no bathrooms and if the teachers want to get transferred to a city school can one blame them ? The education system has suffered like all other sectors, in fact has worsened because of thorough neglect over the years .You see most private schools are run by either the netas or their relatives which leaves them very little time to pay attention to Government run schools that come within their own constituency !

i feel the judge was outraged seeing the sorry state of affairs in the education system for decades lying un cared and and unheeded . This is the reason for his frustration. I feel he is justified in his verdict.

I agree. Judge must be expressing his disgust. I rermember that once a Judge in Jaipur High Court while sentencing a woman to death directed that she be hanged publicly in Sports Stadium. As the judgment was more sentimental than legal, this got set aside.  The public servants also have democratic righ to decide how and in which school their children should study. I wonder if some day an order is issued that public servants buy clothes only from Gandhi Ashram and if there is no prohibition in state, buy only country liquer instead of Scotch whiskey. 

Ahaha... quite a convincing explanation. In the present case, the judge of Allahabad court was so frustrated seeing the deplorable conditions prevailing in the Government schools, vented his frustration and disgust. After all A Judge is also a human.

Education is not an ordinary commodity to be handed over to agencies of market forces.In fact,we have been witnessing commodification of the worst kind in recent times.Unfortunately some leftists intellectuals who write weepy articles ruing it now conveniently forget that the worst commodification was ushered in Bengal by no other than late Jyoti Basu and his successors creating  almost a vertical divide.Recently I have come across a report that a top excise functionary was conspiring to release duty drawback worth Rs.300 crores on exports which never took place by a Delhi-based businessman one Gupta who runs a chain of educational institutions in and around Delhi!!!!!
