We have many emergency numbers for different kinds of Emergencies , like 100 for police and 101 for fire.
Now efforts are on to have a single Emergency number for all kinds of emergencies like some of the other countries.

Thanks for the link. Through this post, I support single emergency number. This should be 100. An individual in emergency condition will find it more convenient to just dial this number and tell his problem. Then the help line will immediately contact the relevant departments to rush.

Yes that would be convinient for people as its not easy to mug up several emergengy numbers it would be lot more easier to remember just one number for anything. :)

It would be easier for us if we have just one number to remember in case of emergency but things would get tougher for the people who provide us the service. :blink:

This practice is already there in other countries. For example Australia's single emergency number is 000, so easy to remember.

May be its successful in Australia because of less population there for country like India where the population is a major problem I think it won't work. :blink:
