The grooms have always been ragged in one form or the other. The brides' sisters (Salees) enthusiastically rag the groom. One very popular way is hide the shoes, which are returned only on paying cash. Another way in Punjabi weddings is to ask the groom to recite chhands (Punjabi short two line poems). I also saw the shoe hiding scene in a movie.

We heard the quarrel between husband and wife but first time heard about ragging.

Often the brides are ragged in grooms house and the grooms are ragged by the brides house members. So it was common. But now its in new form and so they gave it a name as marriage ragging.

Some caste has tradition to rag others in a marriage ceremony. We are bengalis. We have enough discipline atleast during marriage procedures.
I would say that ragging to a certain extent in marriage is very funny.

We all know about school and college ragging. But there is a new trend known as ‘Marriage ragging’ which was started first in Kannur but spread to neighboring districts Kozhikodu, Kasargod, Malappuram and Thrissur.

I think this is horrible and totally inhuman, unless human minds evolve and there is a change in the mental attitude , things will never improve there...
Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!
