I think the word should be independence, I am not sure though. I am too bad in foreign languages. :ohmy:
I don't find anything wrong in its use. If we can use,for example,we get bored which uses 'bored' as a participle adjective,then what's the problem in 'independent'!
'indepenence'
this was used basically, that was in question. Not Independent or Independence, please.

Chinmoyji, yes nothing wrong with the word independent. It is right in use, I just said that independence would have been more correct and standard. Though both the usage would be correct, it's just individual choice.
And you have quoted a nice example, it will surely be helpful for many.
