[quote]Announcing the clearance for the airport, Union Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh said that River Gadhi would not be diverted to make way for the airport and added that 161 hectares of mangroves would fall under Navi Mumbai airport.

Already the coast line of Mumbai and elsewhere in Indis are facing several serious environment repercussions due to decline in the mangrove forests, now with destruction of a whopping 161 hectares of mangroves is going to cause further large-scale havoc. As it is coastal ecological systems are too fragile! Now with the international airport, we can only witness destructions and nothing else!

That's right Kavita! Already in Mumbai there have been recent spurts of incidents in Mumbai where the roads simply break and sink into the ground causing accident.
This is because most of the land now is being reclaimed from the sea over mountains of landfills to provide living space for ever-increasing crowds surging into Mumbai!
