The minimum age for presidential post is 35 years. There is no maximum limit. It is expected that the candidate has experience in high posts. such experience naturally involves advanced age. But there must be still a limit. I think that maximum age limit should be seventy years subject to physical fitness.

Once I seeing our Shankar Dayal Sharma's walk in a stage (in TV) , I thought why this old man has to sit there still.

As per the constitution of India for the the post of president of India min age must be complete 35 years and no max age limits. Because its the high level post.

Thirty five years is minimum and so a person between age of 35 and 50 may also be considered but we get very old persons. There must be some maximum limit. As we also need experience in high posts like Governor of state or similar achievement, the prospective candidate for presidency will normally be above fifty years. Giving a margin of twenty years, action should be taken to fix the maximum age at seventy years.

Age is neither synonymous with experience nor wisdom. It is simply to defy the biological rules to appoint a person to such high positions when he or she is well past the prime mentally and physically. In a dynamic world we need relatively young leaders to tackle the myriad problems which confront the nation today.

Chinmoy- i agree with you. I suggested the age of seventy years. Presently, sixty years is retirement age for government employees. For certain appointments, this is sixty five. So, seventy years maximum age of President should be okay. Care should be taken that the incumbent is of suitable health.

Age should not actually be a deciding factor for such an important post..but is it really an important and decisive post in India?? coz as far as we all know, all the decisions affecting the country are mostly taken by the President of the ruling party, Congress party at the moment!!
So I guess, it does not much matter but does cause wonder about the age of all our presidents who can hardly walk by themselves, barring Mr. A.P.J. Kalam who despite his advancing years, is as sprightly as a youngster!

Kalyani. All our presidents were in good health and could walk. Only Dr. shankar Dayal Sharma had some difficulty in walking. In fact, Dr S. Radha Krishnan was a world known scholar and philosopher. Dr. Rajendra Prasad was also a very eminent scholar.
Although the post of President is not decisive, this is ceremonial. President is head of state and all govt work is done in his name. He has to attend many ceremonial functions and meet heads of states. Hence, he must be a man of eminence and great stature.
