Today in most of the regions of Northern India a festival called "Ahoi ashtami" is celebrated. on this day the mothers keep fast till night for her children. it is not allowed to scold children on this day. the children are allowed to do whatever they like on this day. during evening puja the small children are gifted with some toys, clothes and sweets of various kinds. the mother completes the fast after watching the stars in sky at night. very wonderful day. :)

Yes this is a new festival to me. I will say it to my children and hope they will be happy. At least they will be free from education.
