Here is an article that explains how every girl loses her innocence at early age. She faces eve teasing, molestation howsoever mild and has to be very careful at every stage. Thus she has awareness of he being a girl and fear of molestation and even worse wherever she goes.

    Every class has to fight own battle. Women as a class suffer from rape and molestation. Undoubtedly, it is women who have to play leading role in fighting this menace. They have to be aggressive.

    For a change, there is no harm if some bold women and girl form groups and molest the molesters.

    Molestation is touching or massaging or pinching or doing anything to another person's body for sexual pleasure. This is just short of rape. Many women face such behavior in crowded trains and places. Men touch them stealthily lustfully and even rub their body against theirs.

    What we need to teach our daughters is to take care since there is danger out there,no point in regretting later.However, one cannot simply refrain from doing anything challenging simply because there are some evil elements on the street.One has to develop confidence and courage and be able to deal with such situations if and when they occur ...

    I have explained this in this thread itself. The article given in link is self explanatory. Molestation is undesirable sensual physical touch or action, which is short of rape.
