Last week, while we were shopping for our kid, we bought a set of books, pencils etc....and parceled it and gave to Mathrubhumi newspaper office. It's our small help to those poor kids who can't afford studying expenses. We are always interested in giving such gifts or services rather than giving an amount to such charity institutions as we feel, majority of such money will go to many people's pockets. What do you think about this matter????

When you contribute to charity- in kind or cash- you must not bother about misuse of your money. Donation in cash and kind both can be misappropriated. It is for government to carry out audit of the institutions and see that there is no misappropriation. The only other remedy is to locate the actual beneficiary and give direct help.

But the problem with most people is that they can't find enough time for searching them. So they do donate in the form of money

I also do not search. The persons needing help are near you and working. There is a tea stall owner very near to my office. He is about fifty and sickly. He has no other person in family to support. He has a son in secondary level. He tried to get waiver for fee but could not as this would be from next session only. I helped him with Rs. 3,000/- for fee and books.

Really nice Kanna.
Also, you can offer some free clothes from your textile showroom. Right?

YA every one has to contribute something to poor and try to make them live life comfortabily.
I give my clothes, shoes to my maid. I have even opened a postal RD for her in which I deposit some fixed amount every month from her salary and she gets a lumpsum amount at the end of the year which she uses for her daughter's school fees and books.
Ya really you are doing a tremendous job and Your help really bring joy and happy to your maid life.
