At least 13 police personnel, including a sub inspector, were killed and two injured after the naxals of the CPI-Maoist triggered a landmine blast blowing a police van in Jharkhand’s Garhwa district on Saturday.

The incident took place in the Bariganwa forest in the district’s Bhandari block, around 222 kilometers from Ranchi. Police said that Bhandari police station-in-charge, SI Rajbali Chaudhary was one among the killed.

"Thirteen policemen were killed and two policemen were injured in the blast," Director General of Police GS Rath said.
The personnel killed in the blast were part of an escort party to the Bhandari block development officer, who was going to meet villagers.

According to the police, the blast was followed by a fierce encounter between the security forces and the rebels. The police headquarters in Ranchi has sent reinforcements to bail out the exhausted forces stuck in the jungle.

Nothing surprising. Maoists are at war with the government. They will definitely consider the security forces as enemy and fight.

the Maoist only wants to create their terror and for them killing people is never a big deal....they are a curse to the society.

The Maoists are no doubt a threat to the sovereignty of India. But they fight against the armed forces and not common people like the terrorists. They do not kill general public by placing bombs in busy places in cities of Mumbai or Delhi. They are openly fighting against the Government of India and naturally, armed forces and police fighting against them are their targets. It is also to their credit they are not subverting the Indian democracy clandestinely and in a crooked manner like Team Anna.

However every effort should be made to bring the Maoists to main stream of Indian politics. Their methods are childish and cannot succeed. They must remember that although power flows from the barrel of gun, the Indian state and the armed forces have better weapons or guns. Individual actions against police will not be successful. Instead they should mobilize the workers and landless agricultural workers for a genuine fight against exploitation. They can draw lesson from Nepal experience.

Yes. Actually their aim is to help poor people against exploitation and wrong policies of the government. But the path that they selected is wrong. That's why they are not getting support from anywhere.
I think, if open discussions are done and Government takes some soft measures, accepts some of their good needs, some sort of pressure will surely be lessoned.

Their policies have some resemblances to the policies of Communist party, who fight for poor against companies and rich people.

As regards resemblance of Maoists with communists, it is a fact that Maoists are a splinter group of communists. Initially there was a single party- Communist Party of India. Later there was a split in that party and thus a new party- Communist Party of India (Marxists) was formed. There was a split in C.P.I. (M) also and a new party Communist Party of India (Marxist Leninist) was formed. This splinter group or party believed in Maoist idea- Power flows from barrel of gun. They are also called Naxalites. Some time back, various Maoist groups united and named their organization as Communist Party of India (Maoists). They consider themselves as real communists.

Their methods cannot succeed as the government is very powerful and people are convinced that they can change a government through elections. People believe in ballot and not bullet. The Maoists should change their strategy and learn from the experience of Maoists in Nepal.

In Kerala also, I know...CPI is much calm comparing to CPM, ie. Marxist.
They are the people causing majority of violence in Kerala because, I think they believe in the policy of violence.

Everyday in front of TVM Secretariat, a number of melodramas can be seen. If a Secretariat march or something like this occurs, only this party causes damages to buildings and vehicles.

Actually no people dare to park their vehicle in front of Secretariat.

CPI (M) is a bigger party than C.P.I. That is the reason for relative calmness. A strong organization can be more active in violence also.

When Communists rule the state, front of Secretariat will be somewhat calm because Congress sleeps most time. They know they will get rule after 5 years. Truely saying, they won't rise against any injustice. It happened last term too.

But if Congress rules, Communists will be very active. They always keep the ruling party in the tip of a needle. Full traffic block at Statue Junction, in front of Secretariat.

This time, they lost to Congress only by 1 seat, quite amazing!!!

Maoist are no more a group of people who wanted to bring justice for poor and don trodden, they are supported by countries who wish to unstable our country for their own interest. They have nothing to do with communist or any party any more, they are more like mafias who are sucking natural resources of our jungles. They are mostly active in states where mining or forests are the main source of income.
