Supreme court has very aptly remarked that the poor cannot be made to lose land for benefit of the wealthy.

The Supreme Court has said it will subject the government's land acquisition drives to strict scrutiny as it does not want poor people to be rendered landless to benefit a few wealthy or influential people.
Yes that's right, and another thing is that when it is necessary to acquire land for developmental purposes in the interest of the nation, the compensation given should be at par with the market price...In fact, in my town this has already been implemented in one case where farm land had to be taken for widening the road and the people were given house sites elsewhere and also a good amount of compensation for the land acquired..
