We can't say that it will happen so because even women are sometimes corrupted.
We should rather choose people in a unified manner.
Even more women are eligible then they can even more place in parliament rather then only 33%.
Women should fearlessly ignore the fact that they can secure their 33% seats in the parliament and go for hunt to get even more seats .
But I don't think that they are eligible for that and will even get 20% seats if they got opportunity to compete in a universal society.

soubhagya das - We definitely need men and women both in parliament. But it is not necessary to do so through reservation. Just as boy and girl both are born by natural selection, men and women both will be elected in parliament by natural talent and leadership qualitities. What we need is to treat men and women equally without any gender bias. Gender equality will lead to fairness to both- men and women. Reservation is not appropriate anywhere except for berths in Railways.

women are not treated well in the past. It is in the mid 50's. Now she me one area where women are not treating well. Women are treating well in every field. They are actively participating in every field. Due to lack of knowledge in politics, women are not actively participating. Rather than giving reservation to women in politics, we should educate politics to them. Then we can see active participation.

I think your opinion is wrong. AS earlier i said, our society is not filled with men. As you see today, growth of women is tremendously increasing. All men and women are not aware of politics due to the corruption by politicians. So they don't know what politics is. So government should take care of education politics to the society. So there should not be reservation to women in politics

I also strongly believe that women should enter parliament. But I do not know what is intended by reservation. What we need is to give appropriate education and grooming to all irrrespective of gender. Let us do first things first. The priority is to remove gender bias from education, society and body politic. If this is done, women will reach parliament on their own strength. Reservation is an artificial booster that cannot work. Without leadership qualities, elected women M.P. will be nothing but puppets of their male dominated families. This is already witnessed in case of woman sarpanch and pradhan.

For everyone who is against this. I have not said that only men are filled in this society. My opinion is that India has more male contestants in politics than female. So gender bias actually comes into place and there still prevails the thought the women are inferior to male even among the voters. I'm not stressing about the metros and cities but about remote villages. Reservation helps in this way there.

Not now, but many years ago female infanticide was recorded highest in India but due to awareness much struggle this is now in decreasing mode. I'm not saying that reservation is the solution for woman to come into politics but it is the first chance to make them enter politics which after when this increases you can abolish that and make this an equal society. Only when you give a chance can you make them enter the politics..

Guys according to latest statistics it shows that women are leading men in all aspects for ex. take your board exams the pass percentage of girls is higher than boys. More over India is a democratic country every one has their rights of freedom. Just give women a chance by giving an opportunity men are not going to lose.

Come on guys did any one hear about the great Aung San Suu kyi who protested against military ruling in Myanmar. This clearly states that a women who stood against the entire military junata. There are also great women leaders like late Benazir Butto.

Gulshan I am partially agree that people will get seat at parliament with there leadership quality,but can you give me a single name which lady has won in election with out family back ground of politics.
It is difficult to stand a lady infront of a man in election so we definitely keep reserved some seat for them.

Hi, I think the intentions of the government are good but may find it difficult while implementing it, with every single political party whether major or minor doesn't seem to be comfortable with the move.
I have seen many citing, lack of interest, knowledge,merit as the reasons for supporting their view of 'no reservation' to women.It makes me think, what really is the basis of merit or should I say, is there really any eligibility criteria in India, for the politicians either to participate or sustain in politics.How many men who take part in politics today are educated, how many of them have been selected purely on meritorious basis.How many of them come, out of interest to serve the nation rather than promoting their self-interests.Women do have the interest but its we, at home, society who discourage them from participating, just think how many of us will allow our own sisters and our loved ones to enter in this field.Reasons may be varied -fear,security could be anything but the result will be the same.
So, here politicians who will never allow their women to come out are forced to bring them to the forefront assuming the power still rests with them.And this is true too.So, if the govt. really wants to change anything it should give an in service training for a short period to all those elected women, educating them about rights and duties involved.

Rakesh has raised a very nice argument. Parliament is not like wresling that women can't fight independently. Election is contested on strength of money, popularity and organizaing capabilities. Men and women- irrespective of gender- need to build leadership qualities, gain popularity by doing social and political work and make some independent income and wealth. Only independent women- and not those dependent on men for money or guidance- can play independent role in politics. there is no use giving reservation to women dependent on male dominated familieis. We often see that many women in politics are nothing but show piece in politics. Samajvadi party as well as Bahujan Samajvadi parties have fielded wives or daughter in law of big leaders. These women are not in politics on their own strength. I fear that reservation for women in parliament will enable influential leaders to send their family women to parliament. these women will be only show pieces and represent their husbands or father in law.
