rambabu replied to the topic Oxford Dictionary's word of the year!!!.
It's the usual practice of all Dictionaries and add new words basing on the popularity of the word to their respective dictionaries. Its not a new thing. But the new thing is for the first time, Oxford picked "Emoji", an emoticon, a face with tears of joy.Emoji is not a word.

Wish you were right. In India people get educated to learn a skill which will give them bread and butter. Otherwise almost all are as superstitious as the uneducated. Education has not made the desired dent. Even the Director of the Mars mission, before the Mangalyan launch held a pooja to boost chances of success. He apparently had more faith in it than his scientists and engineers (who also were praying)

In none of my posts I have advocated the cause of this language as a spoken language despite its extraordinarily rich vocabulary it can't be the lingua franca like English. The reasons are clear. As to the small number of people who visited this planet to reform and break fresh and new paths and vision my only question is : When did we have them in thousands
and millions unlike today when we have more leaders than followers!!!!

Language is not made by dictionary. Language is developed in conversation naturally. Many new words are used and old ones vanish. A dictionary is nothing but a compilation of words actually used by people. we are definitely going the right way. You cannot direct people to use or not use any word. They will speak as they like.

Manoj Kumar Lamba replied to the topic ISIS attack on Paris.
I think Indian Secular people have sent invitation to ISIS by shouting about intolerance in India. As most of people attracted towards ISIS, because ISIS is spreading message that intolerance against Muslims happens in West. Youth from various countries join ISIS to take revenge from West countries. Now people from India also sent a message to world that some intolerance is happening in India also. Now ISIS will try to attack India also, as India seems to be soft target, because many politicians have given statements which support ISIS.

Lopamudra, you have summed it up quite well. Extinction or liveliness or revival of any language actually depends on what it can offer in terms of knowledge and content in today's context and Sanskrit fits the bill completely and beautifully well. In spite of its evident labeling as 'saffronizing language' or 'belonging to only a certain upper caste people' etc. it still serves a multitude of purposes to each and every component of the society. Ayurvedic treatment is given equally to an upper caste Brahmin and to a lower caste person. Sanskrit which is used to program computer languages and codes are used in the same manner by persons belonging to all castes. So constantly harping on it as extinct, upper caste, extinct language is useless and futile.
