Anchal created new topic Isn't Happiness Overrated?.
We use the word happy so many times a day in our lives.. we associate everything with being happy or sad... In my opinion happiness is overrated! And happiness is actually a by-product of the peace we seek within.
I have elaborated my view on my blog. I will be happy to hear your view and know if you agree or disagree.

Anchal answered the question Whom we forgive easily - Close Ones or Far Ones?.
Our expectations are from people who are close and the distant ones don't mean much to us.
How does it matter to me what a stranger says to me or behind my back? How does it matter to me if a stranger backstabs? How does it matter to me if a stranger or an acquaintance does everything to hurt me?
But I have all the expectations from a loved one.. that he or she cares and feels for me the way I do for him or her. I expect the person to get my back when needed. I really would be very hurt if a loved one causes me pain and I will find it very hard to forgive.
So its harder to forgive a loved one.

Anchal answered the question Is forgiving easy or forgetting?.
My father always used to say, "It takes a minute to break a relationship and lifetime to maintain it".
Similarly most of us choose to forgive our near and dear ones most of the time to keep our relations alive. However, even when we want we are never able to forget the hurt he or she caused us. And reliving the moment brings back the pain but even then we move on.
So I believe forgiving is easier than forgetting.

MG Singh created new article Donald Trump accepts the Republican Nomination.
The GOP is as good as over with the acceptance of Donald as the Republican candidate to face Hillary Clinton. It was not a smooth convention as there was a lot of acrimonies. Many, particularly from the old guard led by Mitt Romney are miffed at the success of Donald Trump. This man was not given half a chance a year back to bag the nomination and yet he has triumphed heads on. Donald was like a boxer fighting a ring battle with the referees biased against him. But he knocked out his opponents and the referees were sidelined.
Rise of Trump
The rise of Donald Trump is a grave blow to the ego of the older republicans and their supporters. Even now the opponents of Donald in the run up to the nomination have refused to endorse their opponent though they had been soundly defeated. Thus Ted Cruz and John Kasich have avoided endorsing Donald, in addition, many in the old guard have instigated agitations and sit-ins against Trump. One reason for this is that in case Donald wins at the hustings, these men would all be sitting outside the dining hall and only eating porridge. Donald is a strong man and not a candidate of the establishment. This has hurt the ego of the senior Republicans and it will not be a surprise if they support the opponent of Donald Trump, the democrat candidate Hillary Clinton to undermine a Donald victory.
All sorts of protests are being made against Donald. In one case 100 women stripped down and protested against the nomination of Trump. But the opponents forgot got one point and that is that Donald commanded grassroots support among the Republicans and that is what propelled him forward. Donald himself gave an excellent analogy of his victory. He said he was like a boxer fighting in hostile territory and the only way he could win was by a knockout, which he did.
Coming election
What about the election? at the start, many of the Gallup polls gave an advantage of 12 points to Hillary over Donald. But despite the massive lead., it has slowly been whittled down and Donald is almost abreast of Hillary. Many Americans like the views of Donald. Some of them are indeed those that affect an average American. He has talked of Islam as an opponent and suggested ways to crush Islamic terrorism by hitting the ISIS leadership at their bases. He has announced that he would declare war on ISIS. He has announced that he would stop migration from Mexico by building a wall. It may be an impractical suggestion, but it appeals to the American people. He has also announced that he would counter China and that again is a move that appeals to the common man, who feels that China is a threat.
Many Americans used to a policy that was something like appeasement as personified by Obama are happy with such opinions of Donald. He sometimes talks off the cuff and that shows that perhaps he will have to be more measured when and if he becomes the President. The Muslim world will not be happy at the rise of Donald and his victory at the hustings may well be a landmark in world history and hasten the Armageddon- the last battle between good and evil. The definition of good and evil is relative as to which side you are on. Hillary is the status quo candidate and to my mind, she will bring in only stagnation, both politically and economically.
Last word
Donald has got the nomination, now it is between him and Hillary. The lady has the advantage as she has a united democrat party behind her with the solid support of Obama who would like Hillary to carry on with his legacy. On the other hand, Donald has a splintered GOP behind him and many would like to cut his roots. But the acid test is the American people and they will decide. But again the American election system is in a way rigged as a candidate with a greater majority of votes may not win. This is because of the peculiar system of having elections by the electoral college. Thus in a particular state in case a candidate wins he bags ALL the electoral votes. One has now to await the elections in November to see who wins the greater number of electoral votes.

Anchal created new article Isn't nature a wonder in itself!?.
There is nothing more wonderful than nature and its immense beauty lies not just in what pleases the eye but each of its aspects.
Be it the capability of a life to be born, grow, wither with age and eventually die or the capability of a sea to be both serene and violent, a desert to be both quiet and stormy and a mountain to be both heavenly and volcanic.
Each of these, though seems and feels like an ordinary natural phenomenon to us, is a point of amazement if we really think of it. Despite all the technological advances, can man put life in a body or can he defy death? Why do we all have to grow old and succumb to death.. is there a foolproof way to avert natural disasters?
And then how self sufficient, beautiful, amazing and diverse is nature! The variety and diversity of flora and fauna, the therapeutic effect of herbs, the nutritional power in fruits and vegetables, Vitamin D in sun's rays, the importance of water in our body and life.
Gosh!!... the list is never-ending! But, despite that we never have a moment to pause and admire, appreciate and thank this bountiful nature for all that we receive from it.
Let's not just say wow at a beautiful rainbow or sunset and let it end there. Let's instead understand and realize the importance of nature for us and do our bit to preserve it in it's glory.
Let's save water, avoid plastic, stop littering and stop cutting trees. Let's save fuel and walk more. There are a no. of ways each one of us can contribute to our environment. And the first step is to keep it clean and green. Then on rest will follow.
Let's do our best to leave the nature intact for our children, and their children and theirs!

vijay created new article The Unfortunate Kashmiris.
Every passing day makes solution to the ever burning Kashmir problem look more difficult. Nearly seventy years after independence all the three affected parties, namely, India, Pakistan and Kashmiris are grappling for a solution. Since the mid 1980's the problem seems to have gone out of the orbit of possible solutions. Today it has become a complex problem whose solution also has to be necessarily complex.
Pakistan has got thoroughly overtaken by Kashmir issue. All its policies seem to be centered around it. This obsession is making it go to crazy lengths to support anti India forces both within and outside its own geographical boundaries. Loss of human lives no longer matters to it. The civilian government is dictated to by the army and terrorist groups. Hatred against India is fanned by keeping the Kashmir issue alive.
In India the Kashmir issue is seen in a different light. It is reiterated again and again that Kashmir is an unalienable part of the country. The holding of elections is heralded as a victory of democracy and proof of participation in Indian democracy by Kashmiris. The role of security forces is highlighted in combating terrorism originating from within and across the border. Indians consider that they are being fair to the Kashmiris.
The citizens of Jammu and Kashmir are the ones suffering and are facing it right from 1947 in a waxing and waning fashion. Those who have left the state are suffering and those who are in it are also suffering. It is an unfortunate situation for the citizens of J&K state to be in.
J&K is unlike any Indian State. All other Indian states are formed around a language, like Gujarat for Gujaratis and so on. But the J&K state has Urdu, Kashmiri, Dogri, Ladakhi, Gujari and Punjabi languages being spoken. In almost all states Hinduism is the dominant religion and others are considered minorities. In J&K Islam is the dominant religion and Hindus are not considered as minorities. No other state has 40% of its territory under occupation by a hostile foreign power. Also in no state are the separatists freely operating against the Indian nation nor are terrorists intruding as in J&K.
The hapless population of the state is divided into two camps of India and Pakistan. Pakistan has an attraction for many inhabitants of the Kashmir Valley. The other two areas of Jammu and Ladakh are with India. The Muslims constitute around 60% of the state's population and are predominantly concentrated in the Valley. It is they who are finding themselves in a state of agitation periodically. The agitators frequently raise slogans of 'Azadi" meaning independence but it is not very clear do they want an independent state or want freedom from India. Some are also advocating J&K to become "Switzerland' of Asia.
Islam in the Valley was the contribution of Sufi saints and the Kashmiri Muslim was a very tolerant human being living in harmony with his Hindu brothers. However since mid 1980's this tolerance has taken a beating and has seen the ethnic cleansing of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley in 1991. The nearly 100% Muslim valley is in constant state of turmoil ever since.
There is no doubt that the hand of Pakistan is there in the strife Valley faces throughout the year. Regular infiltration of Pakistan based and trained terrorists keeps the Indian security forces constantly engaged resulting in elimination of the terrorists and causalities on the Indian side also. Local Kashmiri Muslims have suffered thousands of causalities and property damage in the more than two decades of terrorism. In many cases local terrorists have become heroes upon their deaths due to the actions of the security forces. This has led to further widening of the schism between Kashmiri Muslims and India.
It is clear by now that the valley based Kashmiri Muslims are a divided, confused and frightened and are being exploited by different forces within and outside the country. The separatists have succeeded in creating space for themselves among the local population. The political parties like NC and PDP attract a section of the population who look to obtaining political benefits and government largess. The two national parties Congress and BJP have relatively little support with BJP almost negligible. Both NC and PDP play clever politics - they run with the separatists and play with Delhi.
Kashmiris come out to vote so that there is a government to provide them with some basic form of governance. This is seen as a proof of them taking part in Indian democracy. Soon this noble thought is shattered by boycott and bandh calls given by the separatists for number of days, which are also responded to by Kashmiris. In both cases the Indian security forces are called upon to perform yeoman duties and end up sacrificing many young lives. And then there is the omnipresent Pakistan backed terrorists who with regularity intrude and engage with security forces who have no option but to eliminate them.
This drama of agitation and death has been going on for nearly twenty five years now. It has affected the psyche of the Kashmiri Pandits and Muslims. However the Pandits have adjusted to their fate in other parts of the country but the Muslims are still searching their stable equilibrium.
What is the solution? Or is there a solution?
Neither India is going to give up its claim on J&K nor is Pakistan going to back out of its claim on it. Nearly seventy years have gone by, three major conflicts have taken place and last was Kargil in 1999. Still no solution is in sight. Pakistan has perhaps realized that it can not win a full scale war with India and has thus resorted to terrorist backed low intensity warfare. India has responded by amassing a large number of security forces including the army to engage with the terrorists. This is resulting in regular skirmishes resulting in causalities and associated problems. The local Kashmiris are getting alienated and are being mentored and helped by the separatists who draw support from Pakistan.
What should India do to win the support of local Kashmiri Muslims is a million dollar question? Will they respond because now Islamic considerations have also entered in. The Delhi government is being seen as a pro Hindu party. Dialog is becoming increasingly difficult. Pakistan is continuing to make appropriate noises in international forums in its bid to internationalize the issue and force India to talks on Kashmir. India is caught in a catch 22 situation. It is doomed if it acts and it is still doomed if it does not act.
The stalemate will continue. Lives will keep getting lost. Bandhs will be called by separatists. Local politicians will keep playing dirty and clever politics. Pakistan will continue backing terrorists and make noises internationally. India will keep answering with more troops and financial packages.
Till then trapped and hapless valley based Kashmiri Muslims will keep responding to all calls not knowing when there fate will change for the better and the present hell will turn into heaven. Pandits will keep dreaming of returning to the Valley.

Gulshan Kumar Ajmani created new article Father of Indian unrest- Bal Gangadhar Tilak .
Introduction:
Bal Gangadhar Tilak, one of the earliest leaders of independence movement, gave the slogan ‘Freedom is my birth right’ .He along with two other leaders Bipin Chand Pal and Lala Lajpat Rai formed the trio popularly known as Bal, Pal and Lal. The British called him “ Father of Indian unrest”. .
Early life and career
He was born on 23rd July 1956 in Ratnagiri (Maharashtra). Tilak graduated in first class in the year 1877 and passed law in 1879.. He started his career as a teacher. He taught mathematics. He was also a journalist. He mixed religion with politics. According to him: "Religion and practical life are not different. To take Sanyasa (renunciation) is not to abandon life. The real spirit is to make the country your family work together instead of working only for your own. The step beyond is to serve humanity and the next step is to serve God." He organized the Deccan Education Society His emphasis was on nationalist ideas and Indian culture. .
Political role
He was a leading Freedom fighter before Mahatama Gandhi appeared on the national horizon. His contemporary Bal Krishna was a moderate leader He was considered radical. He was imprisoned on numerous occasions. The experience in Mandalay Jail considerably moderated him. . This moderation and softening of stand led to joining Jinnah and Annie Besant along with whom he formed Home Tule League. He joined Indian National Congress in 1890
Irrational opposition to even reforms
His radicalism and blind opposition to British administration often resulted in very ridiculous position. He would oppose British even when he agreed with their motive. He did not favour the 1891 Age of Consent Bill that he dubbed as interference with Hinduism The age of marriage of a girl was raised from 10 to 12 years. Tilak would not support the British government even in a laudable reform like raising age of girl’s marriage. Again he did not like strict measures by British government to deal with the wide spread plague. Tilak opposed even the measures taken for public benefit. He wrote inflammatory articles in Kesari. He quoted Bhagwad Gita to justify killing of oppressor. In the backdrop of murder of some British officers, Tilak was charged with incitement to murder and sentenced to 18 months imprisonment. The imprisonment raised his image as a martyr and a national hero. He adopted a new slogan ‘Swaraj’ (self rule) is my birthright and I shall have it."
Social, literary and religious contribution
Tilak said, "I regard India as my Motherland and my Goddess, the people in India are my kith and kin, and loyal and steadfast work for their political and social emancipation is my highest religion and duty". He is also known for his book “Gita Rahasya’ that he wrote in Mandalay prison.
He ran two weeklies- Kesari in Marathi and Mahratta in English. His editorial contributions gave him recognition as 'awakener of India'. The weekly Kesari later became a daily and continues even today. His another contribution is .Ganesh worship as a grand event. Even now Ganesh Puja (worship) is celebrated every tear. He would use such events for patronizing swadeshi movement, glorifying Hindu/ national culture and raising political issues. He also founded ‘Shri Shivaji Fund Committee for celebrating ‘Shiva jayanti’. His deliberate act of mixing independence movement with religion also caused Hindi Muslim differences. His reverence for Shivaji has been taken up by Hindu political organization Shiva Sena.
Conclusion
To conclude, role or Tilak in awakening the nation against foreign rule can hardly be over stated. In fact, the credit for complete independence movement largely goes to him. The earlier leaders were content with getting more autonomy and better conditions for Indian officers and employees under British government. They would be satisfied with just dominion status. His slogan- Freedom is my birth right- brought a sea change in Indian independence movement. However, mixing freedom movement with religion had some side effects. The non Hindu nationals of India were skeptical of the movement. The activities like Ganesh Pooja and Shivaji jayanti alienated the minorities and thus to some extent weakened national unity so essential for genuine freedom movement. In this connection, we may contrast Tilak with Bhagat Singh and Subhash Chandra Bose. The revolutionary movement of Bhagat Singh and the overseas military operation by Subhash Chandra Bose were genuinely secular without any communal or religious colour.

Rajesh Khanna brought in Salim Javed into films by asking the producers of his film Haathi mera Saathi to give them a break as screen script writers since they were struggling those days . Once the film became successful, their career was made.
It is new news for me. I saw Hathi Mere Sathi, but I don't know that is written by Salim Javed. Indeed this film was produced by a South India banner, Dever Films.
