Earlier , Srilanka won the toss and elected to bat first. But this decision didn't work for Srilanka as they planned, Srilanka had a good bowling line up which could have been effective if the score was competitive.
Upul tharanga was caught by Dinesh Karthik on zero bowled by Tyagi but Dilshan gave a nail biting starting for Indian bowlers as he was in no mood to settle down. He scored 33 of 17 with eight fours , among which he hit three fours consecutively in Tyagi's over. A total of five fours were hit by him in Tyagi's spell.
He tried to dismantle Zaheer's line and length by giving same treatment as for tyagi and hit four before he was caught splendously by Gambhir in the sleeps. The catch was not as easy as it seemed, Gauti had to dive forward to take the forward low catch.
Sangakkara and Randiv played a sensible innings to reach the respectable score of 213, it was 89/6 when Randiv came to bat.
Sangakkara scored 68 of 78 balls while Randiv made his debut half century of 56 in 76 balls.
Batting second, India chased the score quite comfortably.
Dinesh Karthik opened with Gambhir and hammered an innings of 48, while gambhir (71) and kohli(71 *) then hit the half centuries and made to taste the victory by 8 wickets in just 33 overs.
Indian bowlers improved alot compared to their previous match against Sri lanka , the bowlers seemed to be in line and accurate.
With this victory India enters the finals of tri angular series and meets Sri Lanka in the finals on Jan 13.
