Gautam Gambhir after so many years being in and out of team has now cemented his spot in the team and has a successful carrier and going on achieving new records. Gautam Gambhir made his odi debut against Bangladesh and scored 71 runs for which he was also given man of the match. His test debut was not that good it was against Australia and he scored only 3 and 1 runs in the two innings. But however in his second test match against South Africa he made 96 runs. Gambhir at a time was replaced by Wasim Jaffer in test matches around 2005-2007 while Gambhir kept playing some odi internationals. Gambhir failed to get a spot 2007 cricket world cup but after the early exit of India from the world cup he was selected for the 2007 Bangladesh tour. After this Gambhir was also selected for 2007 t20 cricket world cup. He was the top run getter for India in the t20 world cup. Gambhir had to sit out from the team on various occasions due to bad form and injuries. But he kept on improving and tried to not repeat his mistakes.
Gambhir himself would have never thought that he would achieve so much one day. In 2009 Gambhir was ranked ICC Test player of the year. He was ranked first in the test ranking in July. Gambhir dedicates his 100 percent while playing for the nation which is shown by his progress. Gambhir also pays equal attention to his family. He sat out of a test match to attend his sister's wedding. No body can doubt capability of Gambhir in any form of the game. Gambhir was picked in IPL by Delhi Daredevils for a price of $275,000 a year.
Gambhir is set up to achieve a another record . A record of consecutive 6 test centuries which is of Sir Donald Bradman. Gambhir scored century in the second innings of first test match against Bangladesh. If he makes a century in the second test match then this would boost his carries as he would achieve something which no one had did in many years.
