Life is action, not contemplation

No comments on “Life is action, not contemplation”

Birth and death between times is called life.

When he came out on land from his mother stomach from that minute is start his life with sad or happy. That life is end on his died.

Life offers many opportunities to us to succeed and see if closely. But action is required for it. Goethe, a German philosopher rightly remarked that `life is action, not contemplation’. Even Charles Darwin proved that life is a continuous struggle for the `survival of the fittest’. One who is not suitable perishes-this is the nature’s law. Action is necessary to adjust ourselves in any possible circumstance dreams are the necessary propellers but life it self is not merely dreams or a reverie. Sitting on chair, brooding, man would never have been able to reach the moon. But man thought, imagined and strove. Consequently we reached the hitherto unknown heights. Thus a life of thought and reflection will be futile if man does not try to make it come true in real life. That does not mean contemplation is futile and vain. No. in fact all great ideals and philosophies are the out come of great men’s contemplation. But these philosophies and ideals would easily have been forgotten, had they not been applied to real life. Who could remember Marx if Lenin had not motivate people to follow communism? Rousseau’s name would certainly have been rubbed out of our memory, had France not accepted socialist democracy. Lives of various great men and eve religious leaders endorse the view that action is not only natural instinct; it’s also the essence of life.

*The control of the senses is the first and foremost discipline for progress in spiritual life. Wise people turn their sense inward and realize the immoral self. Our sense –organs drag us towards the external world of pleasure, like uncontrolled horses.

Religion and liberation

No comments on “Religion and liberation”

Religion provides millions of people of the world a meaning and direction to their personal and social lives. It also gives them a sacred sense, something that cannot be violated for personal gains. However when vales like justices, equality human freedom are taken out of the religion, it is reduced to a bundle of lifeless rituals and lend itself to exploitation. In fact religion has often been used to legitimate exploitation. This is the reason why Karl Marx, the famous philosopher said, ``religion is an opium for the masses’’.

History reveals that emperors and churches in European countries; kings and `purohits’ in India had exploited the poor for their own interest. In modern times the partition of India, Arab-Israel war and Iran Iraq war can be cited as an example of the negative and cruel played by religion.

But the original spiritual mental experience at the core of any religion is liberating in nature. The essence of all religions is one and the same. It can be summarized in one line-selfness love and service to humanity is real religion. Religion transcends all narrow barriers and exalts human spirit. It inspires the human soul to struggle against all that causes physical, mental or economic bondage.

It is really a great misfortune of human race that even in modern scientific age people are killing each other on grounds of different religions. This type of religious fundamentalism must end. When all the people of the world will be able to realize the real meanings of the religion, that is selfless love and service to others and needy, then only true freedom and happiness will descend on this earth.

Main points

  • It is our duty to be kind to all creatures. It is the greatest religion.
  • Religion gives up peace. Patience is a virtue. It curbs anger.
  • All saints are kind and merciful. They are not revengeful.
  • One should keep one’s mind under control. Self-control is essential for following the path of religion.

"Know That You Are"

Hinduism is the name given to the collection of various intertwined philosophies and customs which have flowered in the Indian Subcontinent and have undergone refinement over the ages.

“Hindu religion does not consist in struggles and attempts to believe a certain doctrine or dogma, but in realizing not in believing, but in being and becoming. The secret of religion lies not in theories but in practice.” observes Swami Vivekananda.

hinduism1

It is often said that it is not even a religion. In a sense it is true. Hinduism is no religion; it is Dharma. Religion is a particular system of faith, with a "Holy Book", a predominantly male God, a Prophet, privileged People and divided Humanity. Hinduism has no such structure and Dharma no such definition. Some say it is a way of life. Though not wrong but this is not its complete definition, as there cannot be any, because definitions confine and limit, while dharma cannot be confined. Religion and dharma are mutually untranslatable terms

Hinduism accepts various ways and paths to self-realization, as it isn’t exclusivist. However, this does not mean that it accepts every wrong way also

For maintaining its plurality, it has to exclude the exclusivism of Organized Religion and distance itself from these adharmic traditions.
