One of my recent visits in Hyderabad has been the Koneru Sai Baba Temple in Secunderabad. It is located near the Secunderabad Railway Station. To be more exact it is located on the lane just behind the Regional passport office of Hyderabad. This is one of oldest pilgrimage of Sai Baba in Andhra Pradesh and has one of the tallest Idols Of Sai Baba. The Sai Baba Mandir was inaugurated in 1938. Sri Vaidya Narayana Thirtha Sweminaha is said to have led the "Sthapana" of Sai Baba idol. I am one of the devotees of Sai Baba and it so happened that I reached there at the time of the Arti.
As soon as I entered the temple, my mind and soul both seemed to have come to peace. The omnipresent, omnipotent and the omniscient Sai Baba was felt all over the temple. Sai Baba is considered as a savior to all his devotees. The offerings and the faith of the devotees at the holy place justified his eternal presence over there.
One of the amazing thing about the idol of Sai Baba was that he was sitting on a lotus. There were also provisions for "Prasadam" and the "chanamrit". The beautifully sculptured temple with a huge prayer hall to accommodate all its devotees and a "dhuni" which would provide Udhi Prasadam to the devotees justifies the Trustees endeavor to preserve the glory of the temple.
Not only this, the temple administration is said to have involved in the various social activities like.
• Daily free medical check-up.
• Daily Annadanam to needy and poor people.
• Blood donation camp, and free eye camps are also conducted at a regular intervals.
Apart from this other social activities are also being done for the poor and the unprivileged children. Such an effort is surely markable to keep up the preaching and holiness of Sai Baba.
Sai Baba started his preaching in Shirdi, Maharastra. But his followers all over India are spreading his words of togetherness and peacefulness with the same enthusiasm and zeal that Baba would have wanted. May the almighty shower his blessings on all of us.
Om Sai Ram.
