A road place
Minister: - your majesty, I don’t understand. Why did you want a hole to be dug in the middle of the road? You put a pot of gold in the hole. And now you have put this huge stone on the pot.
King: - just wait a watch. And have some patience.
Minister: - I wish you could tell me what you intend doing, you majesty.
King- all right, Listen to me. This stone will help me find a man, a man on whom I can depend. Hat’s why you have hidden gold here!
Minister- no one will look for gold under this stone. How will you find the man you are looking for?
King- I know, no one will look for gold down there. But still I think some one may.
Minister- are you all right, your majesty? What’s the matter?
King- I am worried about my people. They don’t do anything themselves. For everything they spend on me.
Minster- but is not that a good thing, your majesty?
King- no, they have forgotten how to help themselves. They have forgotten how to help other. That’s not the way a country can progress. That is not the way ow people should be!
Minister- but how will this stone helps you in this matter?
King- you will see. Shhh! Here come two shepherds. Come. Let’s hide and watch.
The king and the minister hide behind a bush. Two shepherds enter
First shepherd - look at that! Stone in the middle of the road!
Second shepherd- how did it come here? It was not here in the morning.
Firs shepherd- what a bother! Our sheep will have to go around.
Second shepherd- why has not somebody told the king about it?
First shepherd- I hope he gets it out f the way and fast!
The shepherds leave. The king and the minister come back
King- sees what I mean?
Minister- I think so. Shhh! Here come two women.
The king and the minister again hide behind a bush. Two women enter.
First woman- oh! What a terrible stone! Right in the middle of the road!
Second woman- thank God, it is not dark! I might have stumbled on it.
First woman- what is this world coming to? What’s our king doing?
Second woman- he must be sleeping in his palace.
The women leave and two men enter
First man- what is this? A stone in the middle of the road!
Second- something should be done at once.
First man- this stone will hurt our business.
Second man- does the king know about it?
First man- the king has become careless. He should have got it removed.
Second man- let’s leave at once. I am getting late.
The men leave. Kumar enters
Kumar- looks at that stone. Right in the middle of the road! Let me push it. It is getting dark. Someone might on it.
(Push the stone) there, there it rolls. Oh, there’s a hole! And what’s there in the hole? A pot of gold! This must be the king’s gold. I must tell the king. What should I do? I can not carry it all. I must get help.
King- wait, boy, I love been looking for you.
Kumar- (nervously) oh, your majesty, I just found this gold. I did not steal it. It was under that huge tone. I only rolled the stone off the road. That’s the truth, sir. I am not telling a lie, sir!
King- I know, I know, boy. I saw it all. In fact I planned it myself.
Kumar- you planned it?
King, I am looking for someone who thinks of others, who is willing to do things himself. At last love found the person I was looking for. I have been waiting here the whole day.
Kumara- the whole day is, sir? And no one moved the stone! Anyone could have done that.
King-it is true. Any one could have done it. But nobody did. Only you moved the stone away. Thank you. This gold is yours. Come to the court tomorrow. And a decent job will be waiting for you.
