Books reading
The main source of knowledge is by Study. Books are indeed never failing friends of man for a mature mind; reading is the best source of pleasure and solace to distressed minds. The reading of books ennobles us and broadness outlook. Therefore, the reading should be cultivated as habit. A student should never confine himself and he never confines himself to his school books only.
My favorite book
In the evergreen garden of literature mellowed with innumerable blossomed flowers, I like one tiny flower and that is a small novella `Jonathan Livingstone seagull’ by Erich Bach. This book was given to me by my favorite teacher, who herself was a source of inspiration for me. It’s a story about a seagull-who aspires to fly high in the sky-an act which is impossible for seagulls. But Jonathan makes up his mind and tries very hard. And in spite of many trouble caused by the `Society’ of seagulls and fits of depression in the process of flying high, Jonathan finally wins. This book has always given a new vigor and energy to work hard and achieve my aim whenever I am depressed and sad; I pick up this book and go through it. and every time I get up with my spirit eager to fly high once again I have learnt from this book that only the man can win in the battle of life `who thinks he can’.
My favorite poet
Literature of any language is adorned by its poetry, because poetry can convey the meanings beyond words using a few words. My favorite poet is William Wordsworth, a pioneer of the romantic poetry in English literature. He had the courage and convocation to break away from the set rules and regulations of classical poetry and form his own poems independently. He wrote in the language of `humble and rustic people’. And poet subjects in his poems are simple and impressive. He experienced the profundity of innocence and simplicity of children and declared `child is the father of ma’. Nature appealed to him as mystic and majestic presence which always casts an impact on human mind. his poetry draws us back in the soothing lap of nature from this world of teens and travails in his love for nature he calls nature the ``The nurse the guide, the guardian of my heart/ and the soul of all my moral being’ he has this firm faith that close contact with nature can make us more human, kind and generous to our fellow beings. His poetry is sensitive, impressive and educative too. Among his famous poems, the solitary reaper, lines on Tin tern abbey, on west –Minster Bridge and daffodils- I like ``the daffodils’, the best. In it, describing the beautiful flowers of daffodils, he conveys how nature can be a perpetual source of joy and solace to human heart. I always derive some inspiration and calm from his poetry.
