‘Laughing Buddha’ has become the hot gift article in the market. Everyone would laugh at the features the Laughing Buddha has but it is not only an article for show case but it has its importance in giving happy life. Yes, according to the Feng-Shui (Chinese astrology) this Laughing Buddha gives happiness, health, wealth, prosperity, luck and good fortune. That’s the reason why we see these laughing Buddha statues wherever we go (home, offices, shops etc).
There are six types of Laughing Buddha statues.
Laughing Buddha of Love: This type of laughing Buddha sits in love and compassion with bowl and sack.
Laughing Buddha of Prosperity: holds the Bowl of plenty up to the universe (one bowl or two bowls).
Laughing Buddha of safe travel: stands holding the hemp sack of full protection.
Laughing Buddha of happy home: Buddha sitting with children and his sack.
Buddha of spiritual journey: Buddha stands with fan and his sack to collect the things.
Laughing Buddha of Long life: Buddha sits with fan hat and enjoying the good life.
There are only these six types of Laughing Buddha. The other types of statues we see are just the fancied copies of the actual ones.
In all the statues we see Buddha holding his sack. What does that contain? That sack contains the goodies, sweets and wealth. His tummy contains wealth, luck, fortune and happiness. It is said that whenever we leave home, we need to tickle Buddha on his tummy which brings us luck, fortune and success. Funny to hear but Feng-shui says it really works.
P.S: These Buddha statues should only be gifted but not be bought for self. Statues should not be placed on the floor. These should be placed opposite to the main entrance of home i.e. it should be eyed by the entrants. If that is not possible it should be placed in south-west corner facing the entrance.
