Learning is an experience
Mahatma Gandhi came back India from England in June 1891 wit a degree in a law. He soon had an opportunity to appear in court to argue a case. When it was his turn to ask witness some questions, Gandhi started, ah...uh....’ he gulped and cleared his throat. Everyone waited politely. He looked down at his shoes. Some one in the audience coughed Gandhi looked up and opened his mouth. But not a word was heard. He had forgotten every single question he was going to ask! Even the judge laughed Gandhi sat down.
And yet it was the same Gandhi who later defended many Indians in court cases in South Africa. It was the same Gandhi who inspired a whole nation to rise in a freedom movement, and came to be known to be known as a `mahatma’.
Gandhi turned a disappointment into a learning experience. So can us. It is best to leave disappointment behind and more move ahead in life. Each failure is a stepping stone to future success. It is a useful lesson to learn and you may need to apply it several times in your life.
Of course, it is not easy. As you grow older, you may feel sadness or anger or depression but you learn to deal with disappointment better. It is not important to reach your destination at once because step towards the destination is a learning experience.
The main things of to remember:-
*Time heals the pain of disappointment. Tell yourself you are soon going to feel better. Seek comfort by talking about it which your parents or close friends.
*When you are calmer, ask your self, ``why did this happen? Was it something I did or didn’t do? Was it beyond my control?
*Learn from your mistakes.
*Keep trying and do not lose confidence in yourself. Keep working towards your goals.
