Vijai was our classmate. He was very careless fellow, about road safety rules. He used to ride his cycle fast and rash drive. He was restless at traffic signals. He had fallen from his cycle many times. He had also hit people on the road many times.
His father used to scold him. His teachers gave him many warnings, but he did not care. He had hardly paid any attention to any advice. He used to laugh at the boys who used the zebra crossings on road. He used to run across the roads. He used to say proudly, ``Why do you wait for the signal to cross the road? Look at me; I rid my bike very fast. I don’t allow anybody to overtake me. I don’t bother about the safety rules’’.
Ne day, while coming to school, he was riding fast. At one crossing, there was a red signal. He did not stop. He was crossing fast. At the same time from the other direction, a truck came in at a good speed. The truck hit Vijai bicycle. Vijai was thrown on the other side of the road. He got fracture on single his leg and one hand. He had to be kept in hospital for 4 weeks. After the accident, Vijai vowed never to ignore the traffic riles and always travel safely on the road. The accident had taught Vijai a good lesson.
