MEDIUM OF TRANSPORTATION
Human-legs!:
Our legs are the first, basic and the free medium of transport for us. There are several other media or transport which take men and things from one place to another, man invented such things for his own self use but these things are turning into a massive and polluting medium for the public and the environment.
Bicycle:
One of the non-polluting and historic transporting medium is the bicycle. It is very very cheap it requires no fuel at all and are very useful for transport. But it can carry only two or three persons, and only a limited quantity of things. The scooter can carry two persons, but it cannot carry even as much as the bicycle carries and moreover it runs on fuel thus polluting the environment.
Carts:
Then the bullock carts, the jutka and the auto-rickshaw can carry men and things. The car, the cab, the bus, the van and the lorry can carry more people and more luggage. These can be used as public vehicles, but these transportation mediums can cause more pollution than ever.
Train:
The train is another medium of transport which is used by us in India in a great extent. It can carry hundreds of passengers and their luggage's. The goods train caries goods of different kinds from one place to another. The train-car and the electric train are also used for transport but, indeed these too are polluting.
Airplane:
Apart from these highly used land transportation medium we have the air transport. The airplane, the jet-plane and the helicopter are air-transport media. They carry passengers and things from one place to another in high speed, low pollution but high travel cost and high senses of air crashes.
Ships:
Then again from land and air transport we have the water transport, which is quite preferable.Ships take men and things from one place to another through water. They sail over big rivers, seas and oceans. Boats of different kinds and the catamaran take men and things to a limited distance upon the rivers, seas, oceans.
Fin:
Some of these media use coal and steam, some electricity, some petrol and some diesel oil as fuels. Some of them move very fast, some very slowly and the others with moderate speed.
