What is a team? A team is a group of individuals who work together to attain a particular goal or objective of the team. A team man is an individual of the team who also co-operates with the other individual of the team to accomplish a teams task. Now let me tell you in our daily life we are always involved with one team or the other. For example when we are living in our home with our father, mother, brother and sister we are like a team and here each and everyone tries to help each other out. Similarly, if we look out a bit beyond our family there is a society where we mix with other members of the society and there also we form a society or group or team. So what I am trying to point out over here is that we as a human beings always involved with one team or the other.
In the professional world also we work like a team in our offices. Now here, if a member of the team actively co-operates with a team in all the matters like how to improve the performance of the other team members then surely he is a team man. Moreover he should also look after the problem of his other individual team man and try to solve it. He needs to be very honest to his work and his other team members. Further, he also need to communicate with his team members so that it helps in creating a healthy relationship. There are numerous examples of teams suffering just because of the lack of poor communication among the team men.
Moreover, don't blame anyone in the team if something goes wrong or didn't work out properly for it will only lead in developing misunderstandings among the members. For example, if there is a dead line to complete a piece or work and the team for some reason could not meet the deadline never show your outburst on the members of the team rather sit with them and decide what went wrong and try to find out the reason for the failure and after through analysis encourage or motivate them by saying that there is always a second time to compensate the loss.
Another thing to keep in mind, at this point, is that always welcome the ideas of other fellow member of the group and give it a second thought no matter how silly it is as this will prove that you are always open to welcome other members ideas and suggestions. Finally try to be involved with the fellow members by giving them ideas, helping them out in their respective work and giving them suggestions as this will help you to be more close to them and who knows, in future, you might need their help when you get stuck in some of your own official work.
I know that these things I have mentioned about would be a daunting task to achieve within a fortnight but believe me once you try to keep these things in your mind and try to apply it practically you are definitely going to be benefited by this in the long run. At Least think about this and move on as there is no harm in trying. To simplify everything I am going to least here some simple ways of preparing oneself to be a perfect team man :-
1) Keep a good level of communication with your team members as this is very vital in the success of the team in future.
2) Be ready to listen to your team members when they need you and try to solve their problems.
3) Share your experience and knowledge with them and set an example in front of them.
4) Treat them respectfully and they will do their part.
5) Co-operate with them and make them feel that you are always there with them whenever they need you.
Follow these and you will see the results working for you within a very short period of time. It will definitely improve the overall scenario in your work place and your team will be an example for other teams..
