India is fully geared to enter the twenty-first centure under the dynamic leadership of our past prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, who had brought about a change in the attitudes and aspirations of the people with his youthfulness and result oriented work culture. We in India can look forward to a comfortable and settled life in the twenty-first centure. One can visualise the scenario thus.
To start with poverty in the country will be minimised, if not completely wiped away, by the time the present century comes to end. Every citizen of the country, irrespectly of caste, colour, sexor religion, will be entitled to the basic facilities of life like free universal education, emplyment, houseing, health and medicare. The state will take upon itself as its duty to look after every citizen from the cradle to grave, and in turn expects us all to put our best foot forward for the betterment and progress of the nation. No quarter will be given to strikers or anti-social elements in any sphere of life.
Workers will get their rightful dues by the turn of the century. They will no longer be dependent upon callous employees or political unions. They will be equal partners in the progress of industry. Hence, there will be no place for strike, lockouts and gheraos in our national life. farms and factories will work to their maximum capacity in an atmosphere of peace, good will and co-operation.Students out of their schools and colleges will have steady employment of their choice because of the implementation of the new education policy. The academic institutions will free of external disturbing influences so that the teachers as well as the taught can fully concentrate on learning and research.
The financial climate will be conductive to progress. By the beginning of the twenty first century, there will be stability in business and industry on account of new fiscal measures being announced from time to time. With the successfull completion of ten five year plans, socialism will be the order of the day and the country will become fully Self-reliant in all fields: viz., industry, science and technology.
Hopefully, on the war front things will ease out, space technology and nuclear science will be used for the benefit of mankind instead of devising new means of warfare and steps to eliminate mankind from the face of this Earth. India has always taken the lead in globel peace efforts. India will thus take a lead in ushering peace and prosperity in the world. Our relations with neighbours will be cordinal and amicable, thus leading to greater co-operation and strengthtening of bilateral relations. The ancient Indian iseal of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the entire world is one family) will be realised in the beginning of the twenty first century.
All this is not a utopian idea. Things can improve and we can look forward to life in the twenty first century if we arm ourselves with the necessary will and determination to achieve our aspirations and goals. So we can improve a lot more in our present situation and make our life more beautifull and hope for a better future.
