Attitude Of a Winner
Winners are invariably optimists. They never count the amount of work that they put in their jobs. Their only interest is "Outcome."In this process they will not leave any stone unturned.A winner is not one who always wins. He too has his share of failures. He too has his share of Ups and downs. The difference is, a winner learns from his failures. For a winner life is a saga of learning. Often a winner talks to himself, " Hey, you were born to win."
Winners have the attitude of 'Equanimity.'
A winner takes success as not a destination, but a journey. And during his journey, there are chances for mishaps.Failures and many impediments that impede the progress. These failures are taken as normal things and they will not bring their activity to a grinding halt. They have an amazing resilience. Because their philosophy is
Success is not final, Failure is not fatal. It's the courage to continue counts, (Winston Churchill).
See how their perseverance stood in good stead.
Milton Hershey, a 4 th grade dropout tried many ventures only to fail. Gave up everything and started his own Lancaster Caramel Company. He was of the belief that future belongs to chocolate products, not to Caramel . That's why, though his Lancaster Caramel Company was doing well owing to his unique caramel recipe, sold it and started Hershey company and brought milk chocolates, the erstwhile Swiss delicacy to the masses.
Steve Jobs, the phenomenal owner of legendary Apple company rose like a meteor within 2 years of starting his company. However due to some reasons Jobs was fired by the Board of Directors. During this period , when Jobs was without a job, he never thought it was a bane, rather he has seen it as a boon. And what was the shape of that boon? One shaped into NeXT and another into Pixar. Of course both were purchased by Apple, his first Brain child. Thus Steve Jobs not only found new ventures, but also reentered his parental company Apple which fired him, with a bang. And the rest is history.
Does the name Simon Cowell sound a bell in your mind? I don't think so. But it certainly rings a bell if i say, 'American Idol' or X factor. If you look beyond the presnt status and riches of Simon Cowell, you will see an altogether differewnt Simon Cowell. A Simon Cowell, whose life is ridden with failures and disappointments. A simon Cowell who was moving from door to door in search of a Job. A Simon Cowell whose venture E &S music, a music publishing company collapsed just before his eyes.
But none of the failures could make him panic and shut himself behind the closed doors of his home and cry. rather with a renewed vigour bounced back and settled in a small company called Fanfare records. His stint of 8 years in Fanfare made him take up another route to reach his dreams. He started signing the talent and promoting the talent staying behind the scenes for many years.
Then came the day of birth of 'American Idol' and 'X Factor'. From then, he never looked back.
Not one but 140 publishers refused these poor writer duo saying, 'This book won't sell. It sounds too positive', But as luck would have it, someone took the risk of publishing their book. And that as the turning point for the writer duo.The Book sold 60 million copies, creating waves all over the world. Adversity comes in several forms. Physical deficiency is one of them. Whatever may be the type of adversity nothing can stop a winner in getting what they want.
Conquered physical deficiency
The greatest inventor to this day,Thomas Alva Edison was deaf. Deafness hasn't dampened his spirit to invent from phonograph to light bulb.
Ludwig Van Beethoven was so deaf that he could not hear the thunderous applause given by the mesmerized audience after his concerts. It was only after knowing from his assistants that he used to acknowledge the audience.
Helen Adams Keller, who has become deaf and blind due to childhood ailment, has never cared or thought of her deficiency.
Herold MacGrath is considered as one of the most popular American literary giants was deaf. But he never thought about his deficiency and went on becoming the most famous writer with ready wit, sense of humour and professional prowess.
They discovered their own niche.
These people knew about themselves more than anybody else. Their inner niche constantly reminded them to leave everything else and embrace their niche. They followed their heart and left their education and plunged into action to tone up their hidden talents. And they never regretted for their actions despite a great opposition and resistance from peers and family members.
Einstein, Bill gates, Abraham Lincoln, Isaac Newton, Michel Jordan all have one thing in common. That is they will be in tune with the diktats of their hearts. And in this process they create their own standards and shoot ahead.
Einstein's grades in school made his parents think that he was mentally retarded. But eventually, His memorable work fetched him the covetous Nobel prize on "Theory of relativity." Bill Gates was a dropout of Harvard University. But that did not stop him from establishing the famous Microsoft company. Abraham Lincoln never got any formal education (Whatever he had formal education was almost zero). He never knew what success is. In whatever field he entered, he proved to be a misfit. And this failure spree went on until he became the Sixteenth President of united states of America.
Isaac Newton was no less in this regard. His school performance so deplorable that he became a problem to all his teachers. Subsequently they could never succeed in improving his school grades. But his contribution to the field of optics and gravitation made him immortal.
When it comes to Basket ball The first name that flashes in to mind is Michel Jordan. The world knows about his amazing artistry and supreme command over the game. HIs thirst for the game is phenomenal.
Winners do not do different things, but whatever they do, it will be different from others.
One need not be a gifted person and possess extraordinary skills to give up a job. Anyone can do it. But one need to be a mentally strong person to keep a job going. That can be done by only a winner. Winners believe in the philosophy that Persistence wins.
Winner take the responsibility of whatever they do. They will not pass the buck for their failures. In a nutshell, the buck stops here. They control their own destiny. And they will live their own lives, not6 another's life.
Winners focus on the conditions under their control.
They a keep a firm grip on all those conditions on which they have control. And on the other things which are not under their control, they surrender. That is they know when to put an extra effort and when to surrender.
Winners are aware when to call it a day.
When a winner sees, his prolonged efforts are not yielding results on a project, he bids good bye to his efforts and concentrates on some other thing. This means, winners are aware how much time and efforts are to be invested on a particular project. If he observes that his efforts are being wasted, he immediately withdraws his efforts.
Winners keep the situation under control.
They dictate the terms. They script their own norms. Because, it's their life. This attitude makes them see the things in their point of view. Its their own perspective. All reins under their control. This attitude makes them see the things in retrospect and chart a plan to cover their future.
Winners make sure of being in the good company.
To be in the company of real Friends is an aspect that matters most. Real friends are those who stay with you tthrough rain and shine. They discard those who drain them. Winners attribute a part of their success to those friends who are willing to face the problems together. Those who do not desert them at the real time of crisis. Those friends who rejoice their success as their own success.
Winners are aware of the importance of constructive thinking.
Our thoughts are the creators of our moods. So, winners take utmost care to keep their thoughts are positive. And ensure that those thoughts are constructive. They view every situation with an optimistic attitude.
Winners think in terms of conquering their self.
A winner thinks that an achievement is not simply reaching a goal or hitting the jack pot. It's disciplining self. Conquering self and controlling that wild horse known as wavering thoughts. Putting them all together and focusing the thoughts on the job.
Winners love themselves.
Before embarking upon the job winners think its essential to like their own niches. This process helps them in amassing huge amount of confidence that's needed very much before tackling a humongous task.
